So Dr.Wily created Zero but so far there has been no other mention of Zero or X in the original series since Power Fighters 2.  And speaking of Power Fighters 2 what is Wily's other project was it King or something else?

There is no mention because Zero is for the X series. X series is 100 years after Classic to keep them separate. But Wily made Zero, as well as the 'Virus'. Which ultimately became his method to cheat death.

What happened between the series.  Dr Cain found Lights Lab buried in the earth and there was no mention of what became of Roll, Rush, Beat, Protoman, Bass, or Mega Man.

Sigma Virus. The Zero virus only existed in X5.

The virus originally in Zero has no name. It is simply retroactively called "Sigma Virus."

And there will never be any mention. One thing is for sure- X and Zero were never released in the Classic era. they were activated multiple times during construction, but they were never released into the world

According to Zero's opening in Megaman X4 Dr.Wily did activate Zero and ordered him to destroy his nemesis.

Which was a dream, in case you didnt notice a few bits, as well as the wrong Zero design.

First, Zero is sleeping in his capsule at Hunter base, the same one he wakes up in at the end of the intro movie. His sealing capsule is brown colored and has a skull on it.

2, Zero has the wrong body. had he been activated in the classic era, he would have his X1 design.

3, after the headache, random vioilent scenes flash across, followed by Zero's bloody hands, and the alarm which wakes Zero up.

It was just a bad dream fromed from random fragments of data. The little bits he does remember, consiously and subconsiously, formed a dream. X5 is where he remembers being activated by Wily during construction, since his memory device is malfunctioning from his energy running out, it basically causes his life to flash across his eyes. That includes things he may not have remembered or realized before.

the only time Zero was activated in the classic era, was on an operating table, while incomplete. The same exact way X was activated routinely during construction. He never left his capsule though. Zero's ending shows that he was built in his to be capsule, just like X, and did not awaken until Garma's unit accidentally awoke him.

But something had to happen for both Lights and Wilys labs to be buried and no sign of megaman, roll, rush, bass or treble.  My guess is it has something to do with Protomans system which supposedly has a malfunction.

That is something we may never know unless Capcom decides to throw us a bone in that depeartment.

Keiji Inafune already said that Zero did not kill off the cast of the original series. So the Zero Cataclysm theory died that day.

Aaand like Jose said, it cant have anything to do with Zero, since inafune said he has nothing to do with it.

Also, have you never thought of the idea of a secret underground lab? the area Zero was found in seemed to be in a mountanous area. and according to X6, Both places where X and Zero were found are in the same area. its possible for Light and Wily to have made secret labs in a desolate area which would likely never be disturbed. Would you leave the worlds 2 greatest robots out in the open after your death?
