There was a rumor of a SEGA Vs. Capcom game coming out this year, possibly with Sonic and Mega Man in it.
That's just way to much blue. |

No kidding. I don't understand why neither side pushed for him to be in. He's was easily the most wanted third party after Sonic, and , of all the TP characters they could have chosen, Snake getting in ahead of him was just insulting. As for his moveset, I figure he'd just have normal (as in, unchanging) moves for all but his neutral special, and his special would change based on who he's last defeated (Mario = Fire Storm, Sonic = Ring Boomerang, Olimar = Plant Barrier or Black Hole Bomb, Falcon = Scorch Wheel, etc.). Obviously, there'd have to be some overlap, but it'd still work out pretty nicely. Oh, and if he hasn't taken anybody out his special could be a chargable normal buster attack. His final smash has to be Super Adaptor, of course. It could work similarly to Diddy's, or Wario's depending on how they do it. EDIT: Oh, and if it wasn't obvious enough, I'd want classic in. Not only is he the one that has the most history with Nintendo, if we're picking one Mega Man to play in a grudge match between all the greats in gaming history, why not pick the one who started it all?

Not really; Kojima practically begged for Snake to be in Melee, but by that time it was too late. So he got first dibs on Brawl. It's actually pretty well chronicled, that. As for why neither side pushed, there was clearly a mix-up in understanding how this thing works. If a third-party wanted to be considered, it seems all they needed to do was ask. Probably better to let people come to you than play favorites, after all. Inafune never asked; he instead had the impression that if they wanted to use Mega Man, they would ask him or Capcom. So he sat around, waiting (so to speak) for a call that would never come. Meanwhile, apparently no one else had approached Sakurai about their character being in, either. Rumor has it that Geno from Super Mario RPG, a character whose rights are held by Square Enix but tied strongly to a Nintendo property, had been in the cards at some point, but it's only a rumor, with no details supporting if or how it might have gone down. --LBD "Nytetrayn" |

Sega vs Capcom was just a rumor that was supposed to be announced at TGS. It wasn't. On another note that picture is creepy, as both Sonic and Mega Man look evil. Mega Man in Brawl would have been nice. I think if he got new weapons by killing a character he would be like a fusion of Kirby and Samus, which sounds cool. |

I knew about the Snake thing, but it seems to me that if you're going to put in one third party that has had almost no history with Nintendo, then you'd better put in at least one of the main NES video game franchises from that era too, and Mega Man is on the top of that list. I also know about the mix-up (and for the record, I was following Brawl news pre-release like anyone else). I still think that both sides should've been more pro-active. He deserved to be in Brawl, but nobody seemed to care enough to take the first step. Oh, and I hadn't heard the Geno rumors. Last I saw, he was just a fan favorite on the boards. I'm sure the rumor was just made up by hopeful fans.

I wouldn't go that far; Konami has about as significant a history with Nintendo as Capcom does. And over time, there have been a modest number of Metal Gear titles for Nintendo systems: Metal Gear, Snake's Revenge, Ghost Babel, and The Twin Snakes; if I remember correctly, Miyamoto himself helped produce the last one. There are others in the game with fewer appearances on Nintendo consoles than Snake. And besides which, Kojima is a total Miyamoto worshipper anyway. I haven't heard the same adulation from Inafune. That could very well be a part of it.
