There is a fan BN7 in the works, so it's not entirely a "lie".

Capcom has wrapped up the BN series with BN6 and moved on to Star Force.

I think the fact that an actual BN7 hadn't been announced yet (even though BN games generally came out annually) was a dead giveaway to the series being over.

the only cliffhanger I saw was Bass's fate, considering that Lan states that he survived.
