So lately I have been playing a lot of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, and while playing I realized I have played most if not all the Capcom sides franchises this time unlike Marvel vs. Capcom 2 which let me discover and play games with Captain Commando and the amazing Strider series. I was saddened and hoped the TvC would have helped me discover new series like MvC2 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl did. But, I was proved wrong as I played more TvC and unlocked Frank West:
Needless to say I started using him a lot and as a result wondered about his background. I had never played Dead Rising, but had heard about it. One of my friends had played and told me it was an dumb game, but after using Frank so much in TvC and loving his moves especially the Real Mega Buster (Since I love Mega Man) I decided it was time to try it myself. But, there was a problem, I do not have a 360. So since I originally played with Frank West on the Wii, and after doing a lot of research and finding out the story was exactly the same without the non-cannon endings and that the game play was different (Being very similar to RE4 which I loved), I decided to give Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop a try.
I was skeptical at first especially since it wasn't like the original 360 version of the game other then having the same story (Plus I heard some bad things about it), but after playing through most of the game I must say I have once again fallen in love with another Capcom Series. I mean the story is engaging and the characters are fun especially Frank West himself (Makes me sad he isn't playable in Dead Rising 2, I hope I'm wrong about that):
Though it may not be the 360 version and it does play like RE4 a lot, though not as much as people made it out to, this game is pure gold. The concept is fun and the game play is incredible, this quickly made it into my heart as one of my favorite games of all time! I hope to play the 360 version of this game one day as the emphasis on melee weapons more then the Wii version (Though I use melee weapons more then guns in the Wii version) seems like something I'd enjoy. I was glad to hear Dead Rising 2 is coming to the PS3 so that I can play it and hope that they might release the original Dead Rising on the system if DR2 sells well. Even though DR2 will play like the 360 version of DR I am confident I will love it, as I already love the concept, characters, and story of the series.
To wrap this up I just basically wanted to tell people to try this series out whether on the Wii or the 360, this game is INCREDIBLY enjoyable! The concept, story, and game play are fantastic and Frank West is one of the best video game characters of all time!
I also tried out the Lost Planet demos and I admit the concept is cool but the game play and story seem to lack for me sadly. Though the next Capcom franchise I plan to try is another Wii game, Okami. I have been meaning to give this a try for a LONG time but fighting Yami in TvC has reminded me to do it, so I look forward to that! Catch you later!
So I went out on a search today for a Wii Tasunoko Vs. Capcom Arcade Stick and found one! I tried it out on a few games and it works great very responsive and worth the money. It has all the functions of the SFIV Sticks and even has a new design where the bottom has a slope which makes it more comfortable. For $80 it was a great buy and though it might not feel as solid as my TE SFIV Stick it is definitely the best stick out there for the Wii. The guy at the store was nice enough to give me a booster pack of the game's cards even though I had reserved at another place. Can't wait to pick up the game and start playing!
Below are some pictures of the stick and the cards if you want a close up of any card just let me know I'll be glad to post it. I was happy with the pack I got all the Mega Man characters which is what I wanted, hopefully my other pack will have Ryu and Chun-Li.
Tekkaman/Alex, Ippatsuman/Zero, Joe The Condor/Viewtiful Joe, Yatterman-1/Roll
Karas/Soki, Casshan/Mega Man Volmutt, G. Lightan/PTX-40A, Polimar/Batsu
I can't believe I forgot to post this up! It's me as a "skinny" Ryu for Halloween this year! I entered mainly for Capcom's costume contest (Damn Cosplayers! ;P) but I ended up having loads of fun making it and showing it off at a party. It kinda renewed the love I never had for Halloween! I even cut my hair which was up to my shoulders and uncut for 3 years straight! But I like how it ended up! Next year I'm considering doing something a little more detailed Mega Man? Leon Kennedy? Who knows?
Anyway here is my favorite picture I took of my Ryu it looks really nice especially with the sun's rays (As a side note that some people find rather amazing is I may not look it but I'm 20 years old. :P):
Not the best costume but I think it came out pretty good!
So, back when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released for the Wii I decided to look at the main roster and play the most popular game from each character that I had never played a game from. This worked out really well and since I have become a huge Metal Gear fan, loved F-Zero, Kirby, Pikmin and other games I would have otherwise missed. My thinking in all this is that since I liked things like Mario, Star Fox, Zelda, and Fire Emblem so much I should try other games that obviously deserved a spot in the game and were in some way good.
Anyway, I had been playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 a lot and thought to myself, "Hmm...maybe I should do the same with these characters." I knew most of the Marvel side since I read comics casually, but many of Capcom's characters were new to me even though I had played MvC2 awhile back too. I loved Mega Man, Street Fighter, and Resident Evil so why not try the rest? I looked through the roster and got the characters I had never seen in a game and my result was: Captain Commando (Which is one of my mains), Strider Hiryu, Morrigan, Jin, and Hayato.
(Continued below...)
So I set out to try each one of their games. Morrigan, Jin, and Hayato were all fighting games which sadly I was only to play Darkstalkers for the PSP (Couldn't get my hands on Star Gladiator or Cyberbots) and I did like it a lot, and can see why it has such a nice fan base. Though after reading the Darkstalker's story I very much am a fan of Morrigan, I looked around and found a friend who had the Capcom Classics Collection Vol.2, and I tried out Captain Commando first. This game was GREAT I had so much fun with this beat 'em up and after it was over I instantly thought I would love to see a new game. Maybe something simple like a PSN Downloadable 3D remake (something like TMNT Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, YES I liked it, A LOT, my favorite version of the game as the new gameplay and 4-player madness makes up for the ONE missing level from the SNES version ).
(Continued below...)
Next, was Strider which I played through and also loved...but then my friend had Strider 2, I played...and I was blown away. It was such a beautifully done game! The story was simple yet interesting, the game play fun and addictive, EVERYTHING was just wonderful, especially the art work. This game is wonderful and I REALLY urge anyone who has yet to play Strider 2 to go play it, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. I really want to see this on the PSN or even remade, a 2D Strider 3 or heck even a re-boot of the series in 3D. I mean really is just left this impression on me.
(Last part below...)
To wrap this up I just wanted to share my thoughts on these games and tell you guys sometimes when you come across a character in a game you don't know about remember they are there for a reason, go out and try their games. I found Earthbound (A favorite series of mine), Metal Gear (Another favorite series of mine), F-Zero, Fire Emblem, and now Strider (Seems like will be one of my favorite series) and Captain Commando this way and I really think others should do this. It is a great way to get into new great series!
