Well, the new capcom-unity site is here! First impressions are good, it's smooth and seems to be well organized. I like it. i've always enjoyed perusing capcoms community forums, and now that there's a little more order, i figured i'd sign up.
So i checked out Mr. Sven's first blog post, and i liked it. It's a lot of info that he's previously put into the forums, but now i really got the sense that the west will be seeing more Monster Hunter. This is very very pleasing. Monster Hunter was a great game that gave me and my friends a lot of good times. It's also the first game that comes to mind when i hear the word potential. man, i talked and talked to people about monster hunter 2. "you gotta check it out, i had a blast with the first game!" etc. unfotunatly it never came. ; ; I still feel strongly about the game though, there's tons of multiplayer online games on the market, but few 4 player cooperative games. (at least ones that are fun.) anyways i'm looking foward to more Monster Hunter, even if i have to get a Wii (grumbles). though i'm still hopeful to see a real next gen Monster Hunter in the near future.
I've also been hearing more about the whole racism in Resident Evil 5 argument, and i'd like to make some comments about that. Frankly i think most of the claims are fair and i can see how they've come about. BUT, there have been 6+ resident evil games before this featuring absoloutly zero black people. so even if this game is 100% killing africans, it's still a small margin of the overall resident evil franchise. Video games have to be free to tread this territory or we'll just end up with the same tired settings and styles. i also hear that there will be a female black protagonist, whether they came up with her before the controversy or after i don't know. but regardless, i feel that no matter what race, gender or culture you're from, we're all equally cannonfodder for games. and things like this shouldn't be taken this seriously, even if the goal is just getting dialogue on race started. It's really not fair to the developers unless they're purposly trying to be edgy. resident evil's storylines are always pretty ridiculous anways.
