Apr 07, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

Hello again, Capcom Unity! Since our last recap, the team here and I attended WonderCon and are still slowly recovering from the event. For those that missed it, here’s your chance to see the surprises we revealed at the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary panel.

Before we get into the news and brand updates, let’s take a moment to appreciate the nostalgia blast coming from this 90s kid’s bedroom booth design, shall we?

Yep! This is where we had people play The Disney Afternoon Collection. Check out more shots of the booth in this gallery.

Capcom Vancouver answers your questions about the games industry.

Dead Rising 4 specialized pre-order are now available for purchase

Capcom USA and Capcom Vancouver are looking for experienced industry professionals for a variety of roles.

Just like last time, I’ll be passing the mic over to Harrison Young, for the Street Fighter updates, then Jeffery Simpson, for Dead Rising news.

Harrison Young First off, I’d like to give a big thanks to everybody who participated in the PC beta over the weekend and helped us collect data for the new Capcom Fighters Network (CFN)!

Last weekend, we hosted the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Panel at WonderCon and announced a couple of new items coming to Street Fighter V. Here’s a quick summary:

The first one is sure to bring back memories of Street Fighter II… the Thailand stage will be making its triumphant return in Street Fighter V !

Next up, we have three new costumes for Ryu, Chun-Li, and Juri! These were a part of the Street Fighter Academy quiz on our CFN portal website on April Fools. If you did well on the quiz, you were rewarded with some awesome artwork of the new costumes by renowned artist Shinkiro. But if you didn’t do so well, you got stuck with… well, some interesting art by Woshige, the Battle Director of Street Fighter V .

Full-size view of each piece can be found in this gallery.

Jeffery Simpson Dead Rising 4: Frank Rising just came out this Tuesday on Xbox One and Windows 10 and will be out next Tuesday, April 11th on Steam. Following up the story of Frank West in Willamette, our hero has new abilities and a mysterious new ally. Watch the launch trailer here:

The Monster Hunter community is still growing stronger, like the proverbial Zinogre summoning Fulgurbugs to charge itself up. Coming up later this month, on April 22nd, is a community led event over in Portland, OR. The event will run for 6 hours and will even feature some local streamers. Find out more and RSVP on their Facebook event page: www.facebook.com/events/1401629579898246…

By the way, if you’re hosting your own Monster Hunter gathering, let us know! We’d love to help.

Also at WonderCon, a group of local cosplayers came by our booth with an amazing Monster Hunter set up. Hakuramen, Krow Pan, Russel Del Rosario, Patchworkpuppet and Kinokashi showed up decked out in handmade armor sets and weapons… but they also brought a full-size Felyne Tank! Credit goes to Hakuramen for building the whole thing, but moving it around was definitely a team effort. Great work, everyone!

More awesome cosplay was also happening across the pond at Japan Party 2017, in France. Continuing the trend of impressive feats, aside from making their own armor and a little cardboard Kecha Wacha to serve as a punching bag, they also made a functional Hunting Horn! I wasn’t present at that event, so I didn’t get to verify if people were getting the Defense Boost (L), but you can hear the sound coming through the video:

Stephanie Palermo Hello! Stephanie here from the Capcom PR fam. Just this weekend, talented fan Daryan shared with us his recent beautiful violin covers of Ace Attorney songs. His approach is a creative take on the series’ dramatic and incredible tunes. Multiple violin video recordings play simultaneously which really brings the layers of this song to life. Check out my favorite of his covers, “Objection! 2001.”

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work =)

That’s it for this week’s recap. Again, we’re always open to feedback, so please send over your thoughts on the format, type of content, etc.

Until next time!
