Hey you all,

I have been playing the MHFU demo for a few days now and want to buy the game this weekend since it was released in EU today. Since I didn't play MH before I have a question: Is there any kind of health bar or health gauge for the monsters? How do I see when they are going to die? Or do I just have to keep beating them until they are dead?

I hope you don't find my question stupid but that was something that somewhat bothered me in the demo.

I hope this hasn't been discussed before, but I don't find the search function very helpful in this forum, have seen much better ones. A link to a previous discussion would be fine, too.

No seabas your question isn't stupid. You can tell by looking at the monsters appearance.

You're normally supposed to attack the creature in certain areas until they break.

It shows battle damage. It shows that your weakening them.

Normally when certain creatures are near death, i.e Rathalos and Rathian,  they limp away and try running away.

Certain creatures like the Gypceros ends up "Spamming" the feint death technique.

Just keep going for certain sweet spots and make sure your careful not to get hit.

Pay enough attention and your bound to notice the change.

Well one way I can guarentee it will die soon is when I break all of its parts.  those that have a lot of breakable parts like lao and ian/los, I usually break all of them.  And when it reaches the last one, they usually limp away.  Probably because the amount of damage done to all of the areas to break the parts are closely equal to the amount to make a kill.

Yea that being said. I almost forgot to mention that some monsters tails can be cut off.

Here's a damage map.  The legend is in the top right corner.  Enjoy.

Ya'know,When those monsters ie. Rathian (hate-love relationship) started to limp away, thats when I knew I truly loved MH. The I would of course chase and carve them.

Also you can check if the monster are getting tired or weak if they go to eat or drink some water, a lot of monster do this after a severals attack and thats another way to see how is the battle going, dont give the chance of recover ;).

Unless you buy 12 million copies of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, and do a write-in campaign for Batsu....

Some monsters go into rage mode much more frequently when they're close to death.

Also if you're pelting the legs alot, they trip much much quicker when they're closer to death
