no sir your asking for trouble with that set up. go with Yian Kut-ku armor if you need a step up. Yian Kut-ku is as easy as it gets in terms of wyverns. Try going up the iron katana tree if you cant upgrade your bone katana anymore.

I gunlance Tigrex most of time time. If you really want to take on tigrex right now try a defensive weapon.

OK ill try that but the only this i dont get is to cut off his tail, i never cut anything off of anything i usually go for a kill or capture, just finish fighting him again use 3 shock traps and attack the head and use lots of potions and tainted meat. then he goes into rage mode then im dead, but the cat is a nice distraction. im still began the game so the Yian kut kut armor is dificult is get

I found using a Shock Trap and then using a Flash Bomb instantly on him when he gets trapped is a solid way to inflict some real damage on this guy. He's fast, jsut try to keep you distanse while he's rage mode. Also, he has a very tough hide. His only weapon spot is his head, the rest of his body is so thick you'll barely do much damage.

Also, use Thunder Weapons. That's his elemental weakness.

If you can upgrade it i would suggest it. Using traps is a good way to get in alot of safe hits just watch out for the roar it has a damaging effect to it if your too close.

Looking forward to killing this guy. I tried returning recently and he took off 3/4 of my health in one hit... These tips should help.
