I'm pretty sure Bulldrome is weak against fire. So yes, kill it with fire.

My advice to ANY beginner is to start with the sword and shield. It's the easiest to use. It has guarding, running while ready, and quick attacks. Sure, it's lacking in the raw power, but there are quite a few elemental weapons. I'd say grab a couple pickaxes and go on a mining spree for a few quests, get some money, and upgrade the Hunters Dagger to the Velocidromes Bite.

This may be some help:

www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/file/93439... S'n'S Iron Path

www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/file/93439... S'n'S Bone Path

Also, don't just keep doing that quest over and over. Move on to the next on the list if you get stuck. Go fight the Velocidrome, and maybe get armor from him too. Just avoid fighting the Kut-Ku and the Congalala for now.

Jaja if you have problems killing something, use this strategy (only for beginners)

1.Go to weapon shop and select the most high damage weapon and more high Defense armor that you can made.
2.In you inventary all the potions and healing items than you can carry.
3.The 2 differents trap of the game and material for make more, if you only have for make 1 type of trap, still carry items for make more of the same.

4.Flash bombs a lots of flash bomb, like the 80% of the monster are affected by this item.

Well that is, most people arround say you strategies for kill the X monster, but most of this strategies work when you already have material and stuff to make a decent equip, but sometimes you dont have the items and you cant have it at your point,so the only good way to kill the monster is with the more native instinct XD, so follow the previous 4 step and try your best.

Good luck hunter ^^.

PD:Of course after you succes in your hunt, polish your skill and make your own strategies and learn the good way of monster hunting XD.

Unless you buy 12 million copies of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, and do a write-in campaign for Batsu....

Thanks guys; your help means a lot! My MH2 article has been on hold because of this crappy boss! All I gotta do is keep his ass in one place, and I got dead, but I cannot seem to do so. Maybe your advice will help me do that.

I'm not sure how different Monster Hunter 2 (dos) is from Monster Hunter 2nd G, but it seems there are really no high-attack power weapons available to me now; I have only two of each to choose from, and it looks like I need some stuff for the upgrades. I guess that's the stuff I need to go mining for to make the weapons elemental? Interesting you guys should mention fire, because I asked my students and they said to try "thunder." As far as the blocking and hitting goes, I get knocked down and a chunk of life taken out when I try to block his charging attacks. Is the object to stay close the whole time?

Den: That bacon comment was funny; it makes perfect sense!

I also forgot to tell you guys that when I try to trap the boss, the little monsters always come in and sabotage my plan; even if I kill then all, they respawn! I'll try it again. What exactly do I need to make traps?

Pitfall traps are made by using a Trap Tool and a Net, 75% chance of succes, Net is made by Ivy and Spiderweb, 90% chance of success.

Shock traps are a Trap Tool and a Genprey Fang, a 90% chance of success. I believe you can buy Genprey Fangs from the backpack lady near the elder sometimes, or you can go out into the desert to get them straight from the monster. If you have the money to grab a combo book 1, that would be a great help.

Keep in mind that in the Snowy Mountains, you can't use pitfall traps on top of the snow, only in area 5. So, what you want to do, is grab a trap tool and three genprey fangs. Make one Shock trap, then buy two more trap tools so you can attempt to make two more in the field. Keep in mind that while they are under a shock trap, you do 10% extra damage.

I thought that was if they were paralyzed (you know with a paralyze weapon).

The shock trap paralyzes them, doesn't it?

Finally killed it! OK, first, I want to say thanks for the help; I'll credit you guys in the MH2(dos) article I'm writing. All of your collective input helped a lot (though some of it was impossible to do at my stage in the game, such as skipping the mission and/or some of the upgrading).

Here are some things I noticed, and hopefully it can help some other people out there who might have the same problems:

- I used the sword and shield, and the highest upgrade I could get was the one with the read designs and bone on it.

- Since the Tranq Bombs were in the quest box from the beginning, I looked at them and it said to use them once a monster has been caught in a trap. So I did after I caught it in the paralyze trap, but it didn't seem to have much effect; was the monster supposed to pass out, or? I have no idea; nothing was obvious.

- Also, it was not really possible to stock-up on traps; the I could only carry one paralysis trap (though I made several). However, I was able to carry one extra (from the quest box). I made some other trap called a Lightning Rod, but I could not use it, apparently.

- When I finally killed it, I had chased it to its sleeping place and killed it there. If this thing gains life from area to area, it didn't seem to gain much back. I'm not really sure, but it's just something I noticed.

- One strange occurence was just about he was ready to enter his little sleeping area, he instead stopped and burrowed into the ground and re-appeared on the other side of the beach. WTF? Do all ground monsters do this?

- He staggers a few times, and eventually flips completely over on his back for free hits before he dies.

Good job! Tranq bombs are for capturing weakened trapped monsters. I never used it on a Bulldrome though... I just use bulldromes to practice my GS charged timing. Lightning rods only work in the rain. Naturally, I've never used them. You can only carry one trap, but you can have the materials to make it in your inventory. Just bring combo books to increase combination rate.

The monster has to be nearly dead before capturing works. Normally you can tell when they start limping. I'd say for Bulldrome, let it go into the next area, hit it ten times, then try. If it doesn't work, next time hit it 15 times.

What you do is you make one, then bring the materials into the quest to make more. So in your inventory you'll have one Shock Trap, two Trap Tools, and two Genprey Fangs.

Forgot to add, like the post above me, Lighting Rods only work when it's raning. I've never really used it before, and many people say it's not a very useful item.

I've never seen a monster do that before..
