I started a new character a while ago and have been trying to use different weapon classes on this playthrough (SnS and Lance). However, in the limited experience I had with them on my last character, they never felt as if they were doing as much damage as a gunlance, greatsword, or even longsword. I know that they're supposed to be better for evasion/hit and run tactics, but even with the other weapons those strategies are possible, and when they do more damage with each hit, it sort of seems like I should just not invest time into SnS. Anyway, I guess my question is, do SnSs have any place later in the game? There are certainly monsters where one instantly thinks "oh, X weapon class is the best to use on it without a doubt." (examples would be like hammers on the crabs, bow/bowgun on Fatalis, and lance/GL on khezu) That never seems to happen to anyone with SnS, as far as I've heard.
Note: The exception is that paralyze SnS, because, when using that, your intention is not to do damage.

Indigo Ogre on Fatalis =3 Only reason you should really bow/gun Fatalis is to avoid melee. *shrugs* I only really Bow Fatalis as its easy and I enjoy it..lol
Anyway.. I own plenty of Sns.. Most do great damage thru G-ranks consider there mostly element and G-ranks have really high Defense. But trample from monsters and such..gets on my nerves,,,specialy when a monster barly touches you and you lose 50-75 hp... I'd use them more.... but i love my Gs and Bows to much.. >_> I know plenty of people who use them thru G-ranks.
*insert witty comment and words i can't spell here*

Actually, the defense multipliers are also used in the elemental damage calculations, so it's not like element gets better in the higher ranks, if that's what you were implying/thinking. Basically, the extra defense that higher ranks get reduces raw damage and elemental damage by the same ratio.
I'll probably switch though, I really dislike the last hit in the combo and it's too hard to reach anything other than the feet.

YOU dislike the last hit in the combo?! It seems everytime you do that stupid attack it has its own gravitational pull that sucks me in and just HAPPENS to hit me everytime. >.>

I use em every once in a while to change things up...
"Sony hasn't put up LBP on the internet yet, just a demo"
"That's like playing the PS3 version without the downloadable content. It still gets the job done, but come on!" "They hate extra support too!" "Come on!" "I know, right?" ... "What's wrong with them?!" |

im surprised not many people use the SnS. granted im only HR6. But i use it on every monster who has an eye level weak point. besides maybe the crabs and lao. works fine as long as i use either evade+2 or gaurd+2. i like the mobility it grants. and it blocks flashes and screams also. i think the challenge is dealing constant damage. you cant really take a break if you want to finish the mission in good timing. I would be interested if anyone has killed lao with an equal ranked SnS though. i might try that. |
