Any real difference from the elder?  Besides hitting harder and all that stuff of course.  And what's a good weapon I got Smolder Dragonsword, Dragon Breaker, and Eternal Schisms for dragon, Gradios Ultimus, Lion Dance Saber, Wyvern Blade Maple, and Monoblos Scythe+ for fire, and for flat out raw I got Siegmund and Blacksmith.  If there's any decent bows I could use like Akantor Bow or something I could have that available too.  I dunno for some reason just having a harder time with High rank cham

There's no big difference in attacks between the ranks, but his AI probably gets more aggressive, which makes it harder.

I'd go with a dragon weapon, as you can't break his head or tail without dragon damage. The LS would probably be easiest, just stick to his side and attack the body most of the fight. If you're bouncing off of the body, try artisan or ESP (fencing) armor.

Anyway, best of luck, and if you get like 15-20 minutes in, have two deaths, and feel like you've done enough damage, you can just sit till he flees. You'll still get rewards and clear the quest, so there's not really a downside. If you haven't done enough damage, keep attacking until he does flee. Just remember that you don't have to rush the quest, if you're getting hit a lot, just hang back and wait for super safe chances, it's a little taxing on patience, but much less frustrating than failing repeatedly.

Best hunter to step into Pokke. Immortal slayer of Rathalos.

You can cut his tail off with any cut weapon, my first cham tail got sliced with Devil slicer.
