I'm curious about these games, I want to try one of the psp ones...which should I get? Should I wait for the new one? I like action RPGs but not MMOs. Is this game fun right away or does it take a few hours to get to the fun? Is it only good in multiplayer or is the single player worthwhile also? What's the most satisfying or addictive thing about these games?

The most satisfying part of this game is the rush of taking down a wyvern that you have had a tough time with. I would either recommend getting MHF2 or waiting for MHFUnite. The thing is you will be able to import any progress from MHF2 into MHFUnite. Monster Hunter is more of its own genre. It is fun in single player however, multiplayer is where it really shines. The most off-putting part of the series is the steep learning curve. It takes about 4 hours or so to get used to the game. Unlike most games you cannot go rushing in to attack a wyvern. You have to learn their movements so you can dodge and evade attacks and find an opening to attack. As a tip, the Sword and Shield weapon type is the most friendly to new players. (in my opinion) Hope this helps.

"Oh crap oh crap oh crap! Running running running!" That's what I thought the first time I encountered a Rathlos in MH1.

Best bet is to wait for Mhu. (since its expansion to mhf2)

I'm gonna have to come back to this post...nya Its not really rpgish.  No lock on. Not sure I would call it MMO'ish ether.  Action-Adventure.. with dab of... something

All skill and memory. You cant just go in swinging... Wyvern/dragon will rape you.

Differnt weapons with differnt styles of attacks. Learning monster patterns of attack and find weapons to use against them.

Hmmm Starting out.. depends. Some people have issuies with it.

Other get into it.  You really need to play it past 4-6 hours to start to see why it can consume you. =3

Difficulty can be pretty rough. Well, it depends how you play.

If your use to terms like "Tanking" or "all out damage"  your probaly not gonna be happy.

There no level system, Part equipment and items.. Whole lotta skill. So being the guy in Dragon S armor, don't make you very specail =3.

Single is pretty fun, Ummm Online is were its at. But you need wifi stick and Kai. Or Ps3 for Ad Hoc party.

(still beta Japan =()

Crapy video time!  One of those moments were using skills(from armor) and items shows how easy game can be.

Nother item moment... MMmmm sleep bomb.

Ya..most of my video are bleh...

Mostly help others beat something.. -_-'

Better video on youtube.. HQ versionb of most of mine on there.

Thanks for the replies, I'll probably get 2 United. Would you say the first one on Ps2 or MHF are not worth getting at all, even as cheap pick ups?

Mh1 is .. kinda like a classic.  Simple, fun, but in unlike others.. takes a bit to get somewere. Its like 5-10 bucks if u can find a copy.

Mhf is worth getting actully. Since ur getting unite. Mhf be good starting point. Its basiclly Mh1(ps2) and mhg with snap load of extra's.  You kinda be getting into roots of series. Mhf is also kind hard at spots.

But when unite comes out, alot of new weapon types will be like . OOOOO *twidles fingers*  Sweeeeeet!

Thou finding players on kai or near you might really suck.

I'm sure you can find a uses or new copy of MHF2 at a cheap enough price.  If it's in your price range I'd suggest you give it a try.  There's no telling how long it'll be before we get unite and apparently you can transfer your data just like you could with MHF to MHF2.  That'll probably mean money, a few tickets you can use for weapon shortcuts and some low rarity items so playing now wouldn't completely be of waste.  I'd say give it more then a few hours though...it takes a good while to really start enjoying the game.

Wow yuffie your vids make me feel like a noob all over again, although only being HR5 i suppose i still am. I never knew there was a secret passage from that opening at the camp in the desert, holy crap thats awesome. I should really rethink using traps and bombs more, hacking away and rolling around with my Tigrex LS takes me almost the entire 50 min. to kill a tigrex at this point.

I've been wondering about this game. It looks really interesting, I'm going to have to pick up a copy for myself one of these days.
