    Dark Void: the Blog!

    Monday, July 7, 2008, 07:01 PM [General]

    Hello all,

So this marks my first post into the Dark Void blog. I've sat on the sidelines, watching Kraig and Jose post, slowly waiting for my time to strike. First off, I wanted to say hi and thanks to everyone who's been following the development of our title. As you all know, we're still a ways off, but the reaction so far has been encouraging! So a big thanks goes out to all of you! Secondly, I want to congratulate the crew who snatched the WoTB codes, even I didn't get one of those!

So my time on Dark Void so far has been exciting, to say the least. We recently went out to New York and showed off the game to the press types out there. It was awesome. Long story short, we ended up showing the game off on a laptop (encouraging news for you XPS and MacbookPro owners). In spite of that,  people we're grooving on the Vertical Combat sections, and its hard not to like taking flight with a jet pack and kicking some ****.

(If Will were to go to New York, this would be his view)

We followed this up with an encore performance in Los Angeles, however this time we went big TV (sacrificing the intimacy of me breathing down the press's neck while talking about the highlights of the game in favor of 42 inch HD goodness, their loss).

So all in all, counting Captivate08, our early sneak peeks have gone well, and provided us with a lot of fantastic feedback to help us mold the game into something we all can enjoy. Jet Packs for the Win!

    So what's up next?

Well, she may be different from years past, but E3 looms large on the horizon. I've attended more years than I have fingers on my hands, but each time is equal parts nerve wracking and awesome in terms of showing off a less than finished game to fresh eyes.

After that, we're off to what I hear is the most awesome event on the west coast, ComiCon! If things go according to plan (haha, the phrase according to plan and video games never play well together) we'll have a handful of stations for everyone to take an early look at DV. I'll be down there, with a dorky grin, sporting a hat, and hopefully a few pro tips on where the game is headed in the months to come. I've been to WonderCon in San Francisco, but never its big brother, so I'm sure it will explode my brain! I'm cooking up a plan to escape the Capcom booth to check out the rest of the show, I'll let you know how it goes.  I suppose its too early to hope for some Will cosplay action down in San Diego, but if you are there, and catch someone (or yourself) on fil (who uses film anymore?) please send me a pic! Hell, if you catch anyone in Capcom inspired threads, I want the pic!

So there you have it, a small update from me, expect a huge one to come following E3 & ComiCon. There will obviously be some press reactions coming from those events, but I think when I roll through here again, I'm coming with some soon to be not-so-top- secret-stuff, for your eyes first.

    Thanks guys!

We will always be BFF, until someone sexier comes along (if that's even mathematically possible).

Oddly enough, I got one of the WotB codes. I have my inside guys doing the dirty work... "Make Morgan miserable. He refused to let me play DV again." "What would you have us do?" "Steal his Wolf of the Battlefield code."
