Here we go with part 2 of our MotoGP Q&A session for June 2009...

I'm curious about the menu setup option, is there going to be global access? By that I mean will I be able to go back to the main menu from any menu? It's a pain to have to sit through loading screens for 2 or 3 menus when you simply want to exit a mode and do something else.

We say: Our entire F.E. will fit into memory. You will not load between different sections of the menus. Also, there will be in-game sub-menus to allow the player to set-up the bike, practice, qualify and race without any loading.

Will the game have mandatory weather options? Will you be able to select the weather option in ALL modes?

We say: The arcade and career modes will both have set weather conditions that reflect those seen in the corresponding GP season. Practice / Multiplayer will have custom weather options.

Will we have an option to have the on bike perspective based on the camera located on the rider’s helmet?

We say: We are currently reviewing the camera system and want to make changes like these. It’ll be very interesting to hear your comments on this subject.

Game AI. Is it going to be bound by the same set of rules as the players are? By that I mean respond to contact and off track excursions in the same manner.

We say: The AI will drive on the same physics as the player.

Are there going to be any blurring effects? If so will there be an option to turn them off?

We say: The simple answer to this is yes. We are also looking into the options which are offered to the player.

Application of Rider Aids. Will these turn novices into Gods or simply make the game more manageable for them to come to grips with?

We say: Application aids will make the game more manageable.

Replay options: Will replays be able to be saved and shared. Additionally will they have an option to display data (lap times, split times, telemetry, settings, etc?

We say: You cannot save or share replay data in this version. There are memory restrictions on ‘game clips’ for both the PS3 and X-Box leaderboards and they are being used up by ghost data.

Sim and Arcade modes: There are fans of both modes so will the game include both modes, but clearly different in order to please both kinds of fans?

We say: The ‘sim’ level will relate to the chosen class. The 800cc giving a more realistic and difficult experience. Our ethos is that we want three distinctive fun handling models for the 125cc, 250cc and 800cc bikes. We want each model to be fun, but they will all come from the “same world”. The 800cc bikes will be closer to simulation experience than say the ‘twitchier’ 125’s. Our opinion is when the community is divided over which bike class is the best, we’ll know we’ve done our jobs right. What we don’t want to happen is 125’s and 250’s disappear in obscurity once players have got their hands on 800cc bikes! We will offer some announcements relating to game modes further down the line.

Nice post Steve.  Although some are never happy, 125s & 250s still making the grade brings joy to my heart.

Any chance of a livery competition for the winning livery to be included in the game??

Blur effect not so fond of  more realistic handling on GP bikes should be interesting. Sounds a little like the setup from Motogp 4  by Midway

Well I am even more saddened by this SIM vs. whatever Steve is talking about.  So the 3 classes are going to handle different?  I just don't get why it is so hard to have all the classes and dila in or out your SIM.  It won't diminish the useage of the lower classes at all.  Heck there are just those who only race those classes.  They don't know this cause I would bet no one over at capcom and monumental play the game!  lol.

Well your weather option was just a deal killer for me.  So if there are wet races during the 2009 season than the only chance to have a dry race in the game is to go online or practice?   Yeah that sounds like fun.  Again don't understand why something like weather simply isn't optional for people who want it and those that don't.

This is what continues to confuse me.  On the one had you want to make the game accessible for everyone so you take these liberites with "reality" because for some strange reason the majority equates "reality" with difficult.   But then in the next breathe you lock in weather conditions so these same arcade/novice players have to deal with the added difficulty of riding in the wet.   So reality is ok for somethings (like weather) but not for others (say like having a bike act like a bike).

And though I rarely play the 125 & 250 classes, if I did decide to play it, I won't have the option of dealing with the smaller classes actually handling like those bikes....just some arcadish fantasy representation of it?  Yeah that's great exactly what I want.....sarcasim

At least now I don't have to wait around wondering about this game.  I'm out. guys enjoy it, I'll be passing.

Nice one Steve! Hope these Ps3 Leaderboards are online in the same fasion as Climax's approach?

250 2 stroke, OK! awesome!

Note to Steve- concerning Blur effect, on the PC versions it is important to turn antializing off to see the corners better for faster laps. So basically it seems slower without blur but faster at the same time as your able to see better..

which approach Juho?

Is it that 125s are for beginners and gradually getting more sim like when you move up a class??

I'm ok with it simply because I'm not interested in the support classes and I don't mind sim, but I can hear a lot of people not liking this

I dislike the idea that the driving models/realism are different on the 3 classes.

For me it ruins the 125s and 250s alltogether if they are watered down versions in reards of the level of realism available in the 800cc class.
