Hey All! I just wanted to create a thread for REAL MotoGP discussions. Lately theres been a lot of news in the MotoGP world (Ben Spies, Moto2 team announcements, silly season, Casey Stoner, etc.). However it seems that whenever we start talking about something cool; someone else reminds us that "we need to get back on topic" as they should. That being said we now have this thread and I hope you all feel free to post ANYTHING you want to discuss about REAL MotoGP (the game too, i don't care). So I will start off by asking Rock how he heard about these new Stoner liverlys for Phillip Island? and if he has a picture? Stoner was solid at estoril and he hasn't lost at Phillip Island since he's been on a Ducati. This should be a true return to form! |

We've had race discussions here before, but the devolved into the usual weirdness. I think videogame forum inhabitants aren't the most well-adjusted groups around. |

In anycase, watching Babera an DiMeglio fight it out was a lot of fun! Excellent race from both of them. I read a that Stoner interview and just thought "typical Stoner" but then again I don't like him because of his interview skills or personality. I like him cause he's a lot of fun to watch race and the only guy who's worth anything on a Ducati. I think Nicky will get better too. Maybehe can finish strong (He got podium at Phillip Island last year) and with another off season of testing he might really come along. That would be excellent seeing 2 ducatis with the 2 Yamahas and 2 Hondas. |

I wonder how Rossi would do on a Ducati. |

Seeing Rossi on a Duke would be a glorious sight to behold but one thing that makes me wonder about Rossi switching to the Ducati is that Burgess has had a lot to do with that Yam's success - it ain't just down to Vale, I'm sure i read or heard somewhere that JB is planning to retire soon (not to sure what "soon" means though) so Vale could soon be without the guru that is JB, this could mean that if Vale went to Duke he could do so without Burgess, I'm not saying Rossi couldn't win on a Duke - he is the G.O.A.T afterall, I think he'd find it harder to adapt the bike to his style without JB. The Ducati is a monster that only Stoner can properly tame, the Yam seem to be easier to get on with (unless your James Toseland), It seems that without the correct crew around a rider is more screwed on the Duke than he is on the Yam (unless your James Toseland). |

NOTE: Loris Capirossi, Troy Bayliss, Noriyuki Haga, Michel Fabrizio and others definitely can ride a Ducati Stoner is the only guy who can "consistently" perfrom well on the 800cc Duke, Hayden hasn't mastered it at all - yes he did well for a couple of races but now he's slipped backwards again, Capi couldn't get on with the 800 - he was good on the 990. As for Bayliss,Haga & Fabrizio - they're only any good on Superbike Ducati's & not MotoGp bikes, Bayliss struggled on the 990 & his win in Valencia came from nowhere, Haga's never been on a 800 & Fabrizio didn't exactly shine when he subbed for Kallio. We'll see how the Yam does with a new rider on it when Spies gets on it at Valencia. NOTE: You can't compare SBK Dukes or even 990cc MGP bikes to the latest 800cc MotoGp Dukes as they all "ride" differently. |
