    My Mega Man collection!

    Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 08:37 AM [General]

    Hello everyone! :)

I have been a fan  of Mega Man since Mega Man was released for the Nintendo 8-bit NES system. Before i show that i'm a real Mega Man fan i want to share some of my childhood memories when it comes to Mega Man.

I have many great memories from this time. I remember that friend bought Mega Man 2 and i simply loved that game! I remember sitting infront of his house waiting for him to come from school so we could play. Mega Man was simply that fun that me and my friend really liked this game! :)

I also remembering recording the music from Mega Man 3 by holding a tape recorder next to the TV. I then put the tape in a walkman and walked around, listening to Mega Man music. I actually found this tape again about 2 years ago. It was great to listen to it again, not only because the Mega Man music is simply amazing, but also that it gave me back some nostalgic memories about Mega Man :)

When there is cloudy weather outside, even to this day this sometimes remind me of the Bubble Man stage from Mega Man 2. I'm not 100% sure why, but i think it was because that back in the days i used to play on my NES console when there was cloudy weather outside.

I know this might sound kind of cheesy, but Mega Man has special place in my heart. It is great to have such nice memories from my childhood regarding Mega Man to look back at. So thank you so much Capcom for making Mega Man come alive! :)

Ok, now to prove that i'm a real Mega Man fan. In the last few years i have started to collect Mega Man games. My goal is to try to get every single Mega Man game that has been made. I really hope that will be able to add the Mega Man 9 Press Kit to my collection, even if i have for it :) Here are "some" pictures from my personal collection. I hope these pictures are enough proof to show that i am a real Mega Man fan! :)

PS: Click on the pictures to show their origianl sizes.

Here we have Rockman EXE 4.5 and a special pack that contains both the japanese versions of the red and the blue version of Mega Man Battle Network 4. Rockman EXE 4.5 was only released in japan.

Here are 3x LCD handheld Mega Man games. The game on the top is Mega Man 2, the 2 games on the bottom are Mega Man 3 (i have 2 games of the same). Unfortunately i have no box or manual for these, but atleast the games works :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PC GAMES
    ----------------

Lets start with Rockman Strategy. This is probably one of my biggest gems in my Mega Man collection. I think it took me about 1 year to hunt down a complete copy of this game. In the end i found a nice guy who lives in China that wanted to sell me this game. I think this is the chinese version of the game. The black case on the picture is a box that stores the game discs and manual.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a picture of the back of the Rockman Strategy box.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we also have a game of Rockman Strategy, but i think this is the Taiwanese version of the game, atleast i bought this from a nice lady in Taiwan. Notice that this manual has a yellow line right under Mega Man's torso, while the manual that i shown in the other picture here doesnt. There is also some different writings on the discs compared to the other Rockman Strategy version i showed pictures of here. Unfortunately i have no idea if the in-game text/language is the same in both versions, since i dont speak or read chinese or taiwanese. This game is missing its box, but atleast i have the game discs and the manual :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is another Mega Man game that i bought from China (i bought it from the same seller that i bought the Rockman Strategy from if i dont remember completely wrong). Unfortunately i dont know much about this game. It contains the Famicom versions of Rockman 1 through 6. I dont know if it is complete or not. I dont have a manual, but unfortunately i have no idea if this game came with a manual to begin with. Atleast i have the game and the box :)

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have Mega Man for PC. This is not the same games as Mega Man 1 for the NES.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is also a game of Mega Man for PC, but this box is alittle different. In the picture above here you can see that the box is "split in 2" (or what i shall call it), but on this game the box has a lid on both ends. Check the second picture. This game also has a 3.5 inch floppy instead of a 5.25 inch floppy as the picture above here shows.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is yet another game of Mega Man for PC. This game includes both the 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch floppy. I dont know if this is how the game originally came or if anyone have mixed 2 copies of the game together.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And again, yet another game of Mega Man for PC :) The reason why i took pictures of these 4 copies is because some of the floppies have some different printing on the label, so i guess you can count them as a variation release. This game also have a box with lids in both ends. This game is missing the manual.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have Mega Man 3 for PC. The game is on 2x 5.25 inch floppies. I guess it was split into to floppies since the game couldnt fit on one floppy.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is another game of Mega Man 3 for PC. This box is alittle different than the game above here. The game above here has a box that is "split in 2", but this game has a white cardboard box that stores the floppies etc., and the artwork is a cover that you pull over the white cardboard box, if you know what i mean? This game is missing the manual.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mega Man X for PC. This game includes a gamepad. There are some tears in the plastic around the game, but the game is still sealed.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have 2 games of Mega Man X4 for PC. The copy to the top left is the american version, the copy to the top right is the chinese or the taiwanese version (i'm not 100% sure which version it is. Both games are the disc only, i dont have the box and manual for these 2 PC games.

On the bottom we have Mega Man Legends for PC. This game is still sealed.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the Thailand version of Rockman X8 for PC. I only have the cutout from the front of the box and i am missing the manual.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Arcade
    ----------

Here we have an arcade board of the game "Rockman The Power Battle". A manual and some marquee stuff is also included.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

     Music
    ---------

Here we have 4 Mega Man music CDs.

    - The one to the top left is called "Rockman Road to X - Best Collection Volume 1.

    - The one to the top right is simply called "Mega Man". Unfortunately i'm not 100% sure what this CD is, but i think it is music from the american Mega Man cartoon. Back on the CD cover it says stuff like "preformed by: The Hollowbodies, Skid Row, Smile, Sugar Ray, Junior M.A.F.I.A" and so on.

    - The 2 CDs on the bottom are some music CDs that i belive was released due to the Mega Man 20th anniversary, but please correct me if i'm wrong. There are 2 versions, one with rock and one with techno.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Special games / items
    --------------------------------

Lets start with The Rockman Collection box for Playstation 1. I think that this box was only released in Japan (or atleast in Asia). This box contains Mega Man 1 through 6 for the Playstation 1, a demo of Mega Man X7 (or Rockman X7 since its the japanese version) and 7 "pin-buttons" (i'm not 100% sure what this is called in english, i am sorry). All the games inside this box are still sealed.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rockman X4 Special Limited Pack. This is the Sega Saturn version. A Playstation 1 version also exict. This pack includes some plastic building set. I'm not 100% sure what the plastic building stuff is, but i would guess that when you put it together you will get some Mega Man related stuff atleast. This game also includes the game Rockman X4.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some Rockman EXE 2 (Battle Network 2) GBA bundle. This bundle includes the game Rockman EXE 2 and a blue GBA system with some Rockman/EXE logo on it. I took a closer picture of the GBA system to show the Rockman/EXE logo more clearly.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have 2 Rockman EXE 4 GBA SP bundles. It might look like there is only one box in the picture, but there are 2. There is one GBA SP bundle for the Red version and one for the Blue version. If you put them side by side (like i have done in the picture) you will get the complete picture of Mega Man's face. These bundles each includes a GBA SP system and the game Rockman EXE 4 (the red version of Rockman EXE 4 in the red GBA SP bundle, and the blue version of Rockman EXE 4 in the blue GBA SP bundle).

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have 2 packs of Rockman EXE 5. Unfortunately i am not 100% sure what these 2 bundles contains, but i think atleast they include the Rockman EXE 5 games (1 game in each bundle, not both games in one bundle) and some game guide. Both games are still sealed so i cant check (i want to keep them sealed for now due to collection purposes)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are some books/games bundles that i belive that was released due to the Rockman 20th Anniversary, but please correct me if i am wrong. This is a book that contains the manual (i think atleast?) and the game. As far as i know, only Rockman 1 and 2 was released in this book format (regarding Rockman, i know that 2 other games also excist in this format, but they are not Rockman games). All of these books, except the one in the middle on the bottom, are still sealed.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Board Games
    --------------------

Here we have a japanese Rockman/Mega Man board game. It is the Rockman/Mega Man version of the board game Catan. This game is still sealed.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately i am not 100% sure what this game is, but i think it some kind of Mahjong game with a Rockman/Mega Man theme.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Promo / sample items
    ---------------------------------

    Here we have:

    - 2x Rockman ZX Special DVDs. Some stickers are also included with these DVDS. One of these DVDs are still sealed. Does anyone know where these come from? I mean, were they given out if you i.e pre-ordered the game Rockman ZX?

    - Rockman Arrange Version:  Special CD Vol. 2. This is a mini CD that contains some nice Rockman music. Does anyone knows in what occasion this CD was given out? It says "Not for sale" on the cover atleast. The 2nd picture below here shows the inside of this CD cover.

    - 3x Rockman 3 pin-buttons. They are still sealed :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here we have:

    - Mega Man 4 (to the top left) and Mega Man 5 (to the top right) Nintendo 8-bit sample carts. I think these were the carts that were sent to the european Nintendo distributiors. These games contains the retail NTSC circuit boards of Mega Man 4 and 5 (as far as i can see atleast).

You might think "these are easy to fake" since there is only some piece of paper glued to a cart with a retail board in side, but i bought both of these from a known prototype/sample collector, so i'm sure these are legit.

    - On the bottom we have Mega Man X8 "Not for Resale" disc for the Playstation 2.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Books / Strategy Guides
    ---------------------------------

Here we have a book about Rockman that i belive that was released due to the Rockman 20th year anniversary, but please correct me if i am wrong. I think this book was also released as an english version, but my version of this book is the japanese version.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have some Rockman comic books. I'm not 100% sure were these comic books comes from, but i think i bought them all from Hong Kong if i remember correctly.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have some Mega Man comics. I belive that the top 3 comics in this picture is the same issue, but with different front cover artworks.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some Mega Man strategy Guides and one Rockman World 5 strategy guide.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a japanese book that is called "Rocman Perfect Memories". Unfortunately i cant read that much japanese, but it seems to be a book that contains info about some Rockman games. There is also a 15th year anniversary logo in the top right covern of this book.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Misc. items
    -----------------

Here we have 2 Mega Man games that i am especially happy to own. The first 2 pictures shows a complete version of Mega Man 5 with a SCN code. SCN codes were NES games that were released inside Scandinavia. The SCN version of Mega Man 5 is unfortunately not that easy to find, especially not complete and in this condition.

On the 2 other pictures we have 2 brand new copies of Mega Man 2 with a GPS code. I am not 100% where the GPS coded NES games were released, but one guy told me that these were games that were released in late NES era. This guy told me that for a NES game to get it's own region code (for example SCN), atleast 5000 games had to be ordered. Since these games might have been released in the late NES era, it might be that they made an universal region code (the GPS code) to be released in Europe in general, and not just in one territory.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the brazilian version of Mega Man 6. It has a "Playtronics" logo on the label. Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that Playtronics are/were the (or atleast one of them) Nintendo distributor in Brazil.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here we have 4 sleeves with some Mega Man artwork on them. You can store paper etc. in these sleeves. The size on the sleeves are about like an A4 paper. The 2nd picture shows the other side of the sleeves.

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought some Rockman stuff once and a nice seller sent me these free Rockman commercials. I think they are cut-outs from magazines or something, so i guess its not somthing really special in that kind of way, but i like them so i decided to keep them :)

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some NES games that i have over at my parents house. Some of these games are Mega Man 1 through 5. I keep these games at my parents house in case i want to play some Mega Man games :) Mega Man 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the scandinavian versions. Mega Man 5 is the french version. The 2nd picture below here that shows the backside of the cartridge is just to show that they are the scandinavian versions.

    Mega Man 9
    -----------------

And of course, i have not forgotten about Mega Man 9 :) Since this game only excist as a download-able version i had to take a picture of my TV while running Mega Man 9. I have the PS3/Playstation Network version. Sorry for the alittle blurry picture.

I can also mention that the Mega Man 9 soundtrack is on it's way to me in the mail right now. Hopefully i will get this soundtrack within this week :)

     --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phew, that took some time to arrange all the pictures and write the info to the pictures :) It has been a while since i have looked through all of my Mega Man and Rockman games, but from what i can remember, all games should be complete with box and manual (except those games were i wrote that the box and/or the manual is missing of course).

If anyone wants some higher quality pictures and/or if there are any questions, then please let me know and i will be happy to respond! :)

I hope you will enjoy looking at these pictures. Thanks for watching! :)

    Hi

Unfortunately as soon as I found the Spanish version it disappeared from eBay, I did however get a complete German version a while later.

Thanks for the info, I had never realised Megaman 5 saw a PAL release until I stumbled upon a Spanish copy on eBay a little while ago so I've always wondered if there have been English PAL versions floating about.
