    Unite is on its way!

    Saturday, April 11, 2009, 04:37 PM [General]

A preview of MHFU on Playstation Home; kinda silly, but does the job of informing the public about the world of monster hunter and its popularity over in Japan. I think its a pretty good start in terms of advertising, but still, more needs to be done soon if monster hunter is ever to be popular outside of Japan.

Possible boxart posted by Yuffie; looks good so far although naruga is out of proportion as many have pointed out. Still beats the old freedom 2 box anyday; the tigrex shown on mhf2 box was pretty oversized as well. just for emphasis I guess:

    Waiting for Unite...

    Friday, March 13, 2009, 02:48 PM [General]

This is a nice MHFU logo created by COMtributer (based on the actual MHP2G logo):

Well its been a good 6 months since I joined the Capcom community and its been great. Got questions answered, met quite a few people, and got to play with a couple of you online. Since then, Ive pretty much completed MHF2; basically the only thing left to do is play with friends online for fun, or help new players starting out. But the thing thats been driving me on is the upcoming release of MHFU.

I got to admit though, there was a period of time (namely last month) were I completly gave up on the wait for Unite. Started looking for other games that could hold my interest in the same way that MHF2 did. Patapon really got my attention away from monster hunter for a while, although the interest didnt last past a month.

First it was the rumors that MHP2G would get translated and released for Europe (I remember the speculations about that poll); then it was the official announcement that the rumor was true and the game would be called Monster Hunter Freedom Unite - the expansion for Monster Hunter Freedom 2. However,

since then its been pretty quiet. Bits of news here and there about thiings we pretty much already now about the game, but nothing about an actual release date.

So, what to do while we wait? Speculate some more on the forums about features we would like to see in MHFU but most likely wont? We pretty much know everything about what the game will be like since its been released in Japan for a long time now... I see all the people playing their imported/patced or illegally downloaded mhp2g on kai and really lose hope. The number of people playing MHF2 online is constantly going down while more and more people lose their patience and decide to import.

Although there have been some recent influx of new players, they usually dont stay interested for very long. Ive tried doing my best to get every new player I meet on Kai more interested and excited about the game, but sometimes it doesnt work and I dont see them online ever again.

All I got to say, is that Capcom NA got to start making use of that 'substantial marketing support' soon, else there wont be a very big audience to attract anymore. I know theyve got their hands full at the moment, and I tha

nk those involved in covincing them to bring the game over here in the first place. But somethings got to be done; Ive seen members of our community start the creation of new fansites which is a great way to advertise the game, although it wont be effective at all if no one knows of it.

We need some official marketing I think. Something like that official MHF2 site that was never quite completed. It featured some simple minigames (related to the game) and some info on the game. Its actually pretty neat and was one of factors that got me interested in monster hunter in the first place (although it tooks some searching to even find it); not really sure why it was abandonned though Im sure there was a reason.

Anyway, for all those patient enough to wait for official MHFU release, dont give up hope; I have a feeling Capcom NA is just about ready to give us that release date weve all been chasing.

Special thanks to Yuffie, Snow, COMtributor for all the information concerning MHFU. Also for answering all our questions (must get tiring) and for constantly bugging Sven for more info :D

    Good Times

    Friday, November 14, 2008, 12:59 PM [General]

Well, its been 2 months since I first started playing monster hunter and so far, its been a blast. Met a lot of great people here on the Capcom forums and had a chance to play with a couple of you guys and gals online.

Too bad I cant play online consistently though - my internet connection is not too reliable (got to change my internet provider one of these days...). I found out that I can only play with 2 other people without disconnecting. So I try to avoid rooms with 4 people. Sorry if I suddenly break off from the group during a quest.

Anyway, recently celebrated my 20th. Yea, im getting old lol. Went out with the family for some nice japanese food. Mmm... sushi. Went, back home to get a couple of hours of online playand actually got a fair bit done. With the help of a couple of my online buddies (special thanks to Manlyman), I completed both the Shen Gaoren and Ankantor HR6 urgent quests.

From what Ive been reading, MHFU should be released within the next couple months. Thats too bad for me though, as Im just finishing off my first semester at school and will probably have to spend most of the time studying for finals.

Kind of worried about this new ad-hoc party thing. Numbers on kai are already dwindling. Used to see upwards of 40 people, but recently its down to under 20. I know ad-hoc party isnt officially released for north america yet, but people always find a way around that dont they? I understand why people would switch to playing online via their PS3, but I just dont see myself buying one anytime soon. Honestly, a new computer would be of more use to me.

Just hope there will be a good amount of people to play with on kai when Unite is released. I hope the lack of activity recently in the MHF2 forums is no indication of what is to come....

    Hello Capcom Unity!

    Thursday, August 28, 2008, 12:54 AM [General]

I'm currently a student studying at Simon Fraser University. Although I'm still deciding what I will be majoring in, most of the courses that I've taken so far include graphic design, art and music composition.

Honestly, I'm pretty new to the world of video gaming (been a PC gamer up till now). I purchased my current PSP 2000 (Limited Edition Daxter Entertainment Pack - ice silver) in July 2008 and have since been playing through a number of games including Daxter, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, and Socom Navy Seals: Fireteam Bravo 2. I've also played a couple Japaense game demos such as Phantasy Star Portable and Valhalla Knights 2 just to see what kind of games our fellow gamers across to ocean are playing. For the most part, I'm quite impressed at how much PSP games have improved through the years.

I finally discovered the Monster Hunter series in September 2008 and purchased myself a copy at EB Games. I've been playing it continuously ever since. I think that it has detailed, stylish graphics, great gameplay and action, and plenty to keep you busy for months on end. I have to say that Monster Hunter Freedom 2 got me excited again about playing on my PSP in a time when all other games failed to interest me. In my opinion, this game definitely ranks at the top of my list in terms of single-player/multiplayer role playing games for the PSP.

I just read that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite was announced and confirmed for release in the US and Europe. Im glad that Capcom decided to bring this popular series over from Japan to us in North America; I just wish that there was a bigger Monster Hunter fan base over here. Still hoping for an english release of the Monster Hunter Encylcopedia and other related merchandise to hit stores in the future. Lets hope MHFU changes all of these things.
