Gameplay: 7 (Celesteral Brush) 9

Too Tell The Truth Okami Shares Alot Of Values That Are Commen With Nintendo's Zelda Series But Is That A Bad Thing, Not At All Any Zelda Fan Will Defiently Come Across Many Similaritys. Okami Has The Player Controlling The Main Character Amaterasu In Beautiful Rich Terrain Of Which The Overworld Serves As The Hub. Players Are Set Various Tasks By Villages Or Her Guide Issun. Tasks Can Include Anything From Talking To Key Characters, Retrieving Objects Or Using New Fount Powers To Open Up New Gateways To New Places. Players Are Free To Complete The Game At There Own Pace & Can Complete Various Side Quests & Optional Activitys Such As Reviving The Landscape Or Feeding Creatures In Need By Doing This Earns Amteratsu Praise Whcih Can Be Used To Upgrade Amateratsu's Stastics Such As Bigger Health Or Ink Pads + Many More. The Game Also Uses Many Dungeons For Players To Complete By Fighting Enermys, Explorations & Puzzle Solving In Order To Complete It & Each Finishes Off With An Intense Boss Battles Which Are Defiently A Highlight. Combat Is Staged In A Ghostly Virtual Arena With Players Using  A Number Of Weapons, Fighting Techniques & Brush Techniques To Dispatch Foes. At The End Of The Level The Player Is Awarded With Yen To Be Spend At Dojos For Players To Learn New Moves & Spend On Items To Help In Your Quest. The Most Unique Thing About Okami Though Is In Its Celestrial Brush Technique Of Where Te Player Can Freeze Gameplay & Wash Away All Colour To The Screen Here Players Can Use A Paintbrush To Change The World Around Them To Assist Them Such As If You Need To Mend A Broken Bridge Just Draw One In & It Will Reappear, These Can Also Be Used To Gain Techniques Such As Power Slashs Control Elements & Many More. These Techniques Can Be Obtained When A Player Discovers A Concelation Of Stars & Revives An Animal From The Chinese Zodiac To Obtain Them.

Replay Value* 7

Okami Is Strictly A Single Player Quest Yet People Will Not Complain They Did Not Get There Money Worth As Its a Pretty Lengthy Quest As It Takes At Least 30 Hours To Complete, Many Sidequests Expand This & Many Will Just Want To Play It Over Again. Once Completed Though Players Unlock A Room Of Concept Art, Music & Videos For Players To View.

Nice overall review, don't agree with the 7 on gameplay because the celestial brush is so integral to it, especially when it was on the PS2 playing with a pad, that if it's low on that then the entire game drops quite a few notches IMO. It's the kind of game you won't be able to appreciate if all you want to do is just complete the story as best as possible, there is a  'stop and admire' element to this game. When you explore the world and experiment with your brush techniques and admire the detail and the artistic design that complements the gameplay blended and brought together so beautifully by the developers talent in bringing such a vision to life is when you truly start to appreciate the game, a game that you're supposed to take your time with.

I know that it's been ported to the Wii, and thereby I feel it makes it's brush strokes lose that sense of ingenuity and makes it seem like somewhat of a cheap gimmick for the Wii, just another wave your arm around and see the effects game, when it isn't. It was a unique, imaginative and innovative stroke of genius to be able to do such things with a pad and it should be looked at in that light, why I feel the PS2 version is suerior.

I don't think replay value should be something to talk about at all, it's the kind of game where this doesn't apply and shouldn't matter. More cmparable to a David Lean epic, not much replay value in watching his movies but something that can be appreciated over and over again by those who do.

Good review in general though. It really is magical game.
