Tis the season, but I just can't get into the spirit. All I would ever want for Christmas is awesome MegaMan games and gear, but there just isn't enough! Here's a list of some cool stuff that we can hopefully look forward to in the future...
1. The Yellow Devil Play-Doh Playset
Everyone loves Play-Doh, and everyone hates the Yellow Devil: the perfect combination! Mold the Yellow Devil into all sorts of fun shapes just like in the game, then mash it altogether so he can go back to his original form. In the end, I guess it's just a giant tub of yellow Play-Doh, but at least you get a box.
2. The Dr. Wily Decoy Bobble Head
I've never really understood the bobble head phenomenon. What I do know is that no character deserves to be immortalized more than Dr. Wily, and the weird world of bobble heads is perfect for him. Wily's ingenious sping-headed distraction has been bamboozling MegaMan for years, and would sure look great on top of your sock drawer!
3. AirMan w/ Real Working Fan
I'm sure just about everyone's seen this by now. However, I bet not a single one of you rushed out to buy...whatever it is he has. Oh well! AirMan paves the way for other handy-dandy possibilities as well, including SnoCone-Making IceMan and the CutMan Head-Scissors.
4. HeatMan Zippo Lighter
Who didn't see this one coming? I'm not even a smoker, and I gotta have it! HeatMan's design wasn't on accident, so it's a travesty that all these years have passed and he still doesn't have his own brand of lighter to smoke with. I would be worried about it luring the tikes to light-up at an early age, but none of them even know who HeatMan is. For shame!
5. TurboMan Transformer
He's a car that transforms into a robot; what more could you want?! This cross-over was destined, and everyone's wondering whether he'll end up an Autobot or a Decepticon. His slick tires allow for maximum speed, while his battle mode is just a few flips here and there away. Regardless of how you feel about MegaMan or Transformers, you just have to get this toy. Why? Because it's TURBOMAN!!
After playing HD Remix for I don't know how many hours, I have to say it was well worth the wait. It feels good to be fighting with Zangief and Sagat again. It also makes me anticipate SF4 even more! Hopefully I'll get online with it soon, and get beaten to a pulp by the fierce competition.
I have also been throwing around the idea of MegaMan crossovers in my head recently. I was looking forward to the rumored Scramble Battle title on Wii, which disappeared months before MegaMan 9's announcement. In any case, I'm hopeful for new MegaMan titles to get announced in the near future, as Starforce 3 be in America soon enough. I know its ridiculous to consistantly be hoping for new MegaMan releases, but it does not hurt to be hopeful...does it?
Thanksgiving Break is here! Which means...Christmas Break is near! One of my personal favorite times of the year, an there's a lot to look forward to thankfully. One in particular en route is the highly anticipated SFT2HD Remix, which I'm guessing 3/4 of the community members here are either playing right now or have their checks in the mail. Then of course there's always Tatsunoko, Starforce 3, SF4...who knows how many blog posts I'll spend saying I can not wait for these.
But there's even more than just video games on the horizon! And that is...

Shows about video games! If you've never seen Awesome Video Games, I suggest watching some now. They've been running strong for over a year now, and are about to release a lot of their content on DVD. I definitely plan on buying it.
I hope everyone here has a great Thanksgiving, and don't forget to spend at least a little time with your loved ones!
Back when Starmen.net was having an Earthbound youtube contest, my brother and I crafted this fake commercial for a game that combined Earthbound with MegaMan.
The video's pretty old by now, but I'm bringing it up again because there's a chance that we're planning on actually developing this into a real, PC game. I already have a good share of the graphics done, and there is an opportunity for an engine on the rise.
All the way back when the Super Nintendo was first being introduced, Keiji Inafune was faced with the challenge of bringing the super fighting robot into 16-bits. The new hardware meant new possibilities, and Capcom was ready to bring MegaMan to the next level. Unlike some not-so-well received reinventions (BomberMan Zero pops into my head), MegaMan X was a major hit. Rather than leaving the old MegaMan in the dust though, X and Classic were continued side-by-side, each offering their own level of fun and appeal to varying audiences.
Capcom continued this tradition for Legends on the Playstation, Battle Network on the GBA, and ZX on the DS, recreating MegaMan for a new generation and making use of the new hardware that was available. Because of this trend, I am now left wondering what the next iteration of the blue bomber might be.
So far, Capcom has opted to not create new versions of MegaMan for next, or last gen consoles, instead sticking to X sequels and spinoff games. I assume this is mostly because the logical step would be a more realistic MegaMan to reflect the better graphic capabilities of these consoles. I get the impression Keiji Inafune openly scoffs this idea, because of the mock realistic-MegaMan posters in Dead Rising, and the costume avaiable both in Dead Rising and Lost Planet. Perhaps he even saw the abysmal results of the cartoony BomberMan's transformation in BomberMan Zero and knew for sure that route could not be taken.
What I'm really eyeing though is the Wii. The Wii, rather than hulking up its display specs, chose to improve the way video games controlled. However, many third party companies have found it difficult to get the true use out of the Wii. Thus, it seems there is no more perfect situation to me than for a new MegaMan to approach the challenge of creating a game on the Wii that uses the motion controls to an extent where the gameplay is new yet still fun and addictive. I have no idea what shape or form this new MegaMan would be; I leave that up to the masterminds at Capcom. I'm always looking forward to new MegaMan titles, but it would be especially awesome to behold a triumphant MegaMan Wii game, continuing a proud legacy that is more than 20 years strong.
