When CoroCoro first started thier new MegaMan boss contest, I was 100% sure it wasn't a new MegaMan Starforce title, because of the first reports saying stuff like 'it was a revival of an old series'. Then I found out a week later those reports were bunk, and it never said anything like that.
So then I was 100% sure the new MegaMan game WAS MegaMan Starforce 4. But as time passes, and we get closer to the, SURELY soon, revealing of what this new MegaMan game is (the contest winners will be announced in the April issue, which will apparently comes out in May) I think of how it might or might not be Starforce 4.
-Inticreates, who made MegaMan Zero/ZX/MegaMan 9, as far as I know, have not announced any new title they're working on. I doubt they'd create MM9 and then go on extended vacation, so it makes me wonder what they'd be up to.
-Starforce 3 was released REALLY recently in Japan. But by really I mean months, and honestly, it seems like 3 got announced pretty soon after 2, so it wouldn't be too surprising for me.
-Like all my other points, this one is ambigious, but according to HeatMan from the MegaMan Network, who is probably the most trustworthy-in-the-know MegaMan fans there is, the other boss contests haven't been as open-ended and mysterious as the recent one. There could be tons of reasons for why Capcom did this, so it doesn't really indicate anything other than an open possibility for a game in or out of the Starforce series. (They could be scaling the popularity of what type of bosses are sent in, they could want more original designs rather than fans following a formula, it could be for a brand new series, etc).
As far as the example boss given for the contest, the spookily awesome 'Ghoston', I would definitely say he resembles something found in Starforce the most, out of all the other MegaMan series. I really do hope that the following months will shed some light on this new game; its driving me even crazier than Seth's MegaMan 9 secret!
So if you managed to read this far, or skipped to the end, I'd like to hear your guess of what the new MegaMan game is, because I really have nothing better to do.
