Game Data

Gaming Tourneys and New Resident Evil (now with more speeling errors!)

    Friday, November 20, 2009, 11:42 AM [General]

So yeah... i have probably mentioned this before but on Wednsday night i go to a buddy of mine's school (UMBC in MD) and play games with some very good fighting game players. The games of choice as of late are usually Guilty Gear (in whatever version they like best),  Super Smash Bros. , Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Super Street Fighter 2 HDremix and Tekken 6. Yeah once Tekken 6 came out pretty much no one wants to play SFIV....which is just my luck since i was finally geting confident in my skills in playing it...go figure.

This past Wednsday there were several free tournaments held. One for each of the afformentioned games that appear in the previous paragraph..except for Smash Bros., becuase not too many people were playing that. I entered in the Marvel, Tekken, and SSFHDR tourneys and was defeated in the first round of each. Which is sadly par for the course...i have never said i was good at these games i just happen to enjoy playing them..that being said...i had my butt handed to me thouroughly in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 tourney by a guy who would later win the tourney...(those infinite combos are no joke!) but since i "knew" the guy and already knew that was his plan from the start it didn't hurt so bad to get udderly destroyed in a match...

The thing that drives me nuts is that i am getting my hind parts handed to me in Tekken 6 (espcially online)...that's not particularly fun...i would like to blame it on all on lag but I ain't so hot in head to head matches either. My curent standing on XBL is some thing like 190 wins and 208 that's nearly 20 matches below .500 (winning percentage)! That is just plain sad...even though i claim that i just play "just for the love of the game" but losing to Hwangs (it's probably still not spelled correctly and i still don't care) and Baeks is not fun. Espicially since my main is King who specializes in kick reversals  (for the love all that's holy BLOCK LOW!)

I guess i am gonna have to put more effort into playing offline more and talk to my Tekken Sensei about improving my game. It flat out stinks!

Oh yeah... Apparently Capcom knows how to keep players in the game by adding extra content! I was on the XBL last night and couldn't help but notice that they just put up a new trailer for the new Resident Evil 5 episode named "Nightmare Something or Another" (sorry i do these blogs on the spur of the moment so very little polish go into them...no one's forcing you to read them!)  This looks very interesting and i am pretty confident that i will be getting this new content as soon as it come out (afterall i am a dork for these things!) but i am trying to decide wether i should just download the content onto my already bulging Hard Drive (i only have about 60GB of a 120GB harddrive left for my 360) or should i trade in the original and buy the Gold Edition....what to do what to do...

    Tekken 6! ^_^

    Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 12:48 PM [General]

OH YEAH! Tekken 6 has finally come out last week! I had the special edition resevered for Xbox 360 so i could get the wireless fight stick. My first impressions of the stick are that i was really confused by the button layout. The Hori brand stik looked like this:

So me never playing witha stick like that was pretty surprised to see this kind of Layout since i have only had the two SFIV sticks and two Tekken 5 sticks that looked like this:

but i digress...after about 5 hours of practice i was able to get used to this layout and play relatively well on it...granted i am no Tekken Lord in this game...yet ... but i think if i put in enough effort i'll get there....

my comments about this game online are so-so the game is pretty laggy online but i have had relatively decent success playing a match without it droping mid-match (which saves me the pain of having to listen to someone call me a wuss for not finishing a match.) But overall i have a sub .500 winning percentage...some days i am pretty hot others i can't buy myself a win! of course playing with others side my side is the best way to play. A buddy of mine's school has a really sweet game room with some decent LCD screen monitors that we all play games on and every Wednsday night, we hang out at his school and play different fighting games (SFIV, SSBM, Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue...just to name a few) Its nice because my "sensei" Rosevelt intorduced me to these wednsday gatherings about a year and half ago and i have been going ever since.

I still need to work on my timing with my main character, King because his reversals are great against Hwrongs (can't spell don't care>_>)  who pound left kick like their life depended on it. and i should start working on my low parries because its embaressing as hell to lose to a guy with a decent poke game (low pokes are killers)

The customization is lots of fun but i think that the Scenario Story mode is a waste of disk space and only good for hording achievements (or trophies).

All in all i would have to give this game a A+

in case if you were wondering i would give SFIV an A++ because it doesn't force you to go through hours of "Tekken Force" to get to everything...now if only i knew how to unlock all the rest of the icons....

    Hi Red Dog 13,

"I hope that they add Cody in SSFIV"

I hope so too. I even wrote his intro and ending story for that game, check it out here if you want:
    www.capcom-unity.com/shotokantuning/blog...

It also has intro and ending stories for characters like Guy and Hugo.

    Greetings,

Well Red Dog rest assured, we have a few months ahead of us, so if washing some cars or delivering some packages won't do the trick, we can always do a few matches for money. Anyways these type of games last for a year at least, with the potential of becoming 10 year long lasting classics, and the better and longer the game the bigger the budget I have available for it.

    Greets,
    ST
