A look at what was Street Fighter '89...
FINAL FIGHT
imagine a parallel universe where Final Fight kept it's original title. Would there have been a SFII? It's a frightening thought and a huge move on capcom's part to title the game Final Fight, making it a new franchise altogether. Though they may be different franchises there has been enough evidence linking the two series as being in the same universe. Chun Li and Guile make cameo apearances in FFII and FF characters such as Cody, Guy, Rolento, Sodom and Maki make playable apperances in different chapters of Street Fighter Alpha. Final Fight characters are so much more prominent in SFA because both FF1 and the SFA series take place around the same time period. Hugo is also (an obvious) relative to the Andore family in Street FIghter III, and his manager is Final Fight's Poison! Cammy was even featured in the lackluster Final Fight: StreetWise. Though Final Fight is one of those games you either love or don't understand, one thing we all can appreciate about this game is that it was a critical decision that paved the way for Capcom's best selling game of all time, Street Fighter II. Plus Final Fight was alot of fun too!
Final Fight and Street Fighter will always be blood brothers and will continue to provide a playground for eachothers characters.
