Hi all; I've got a couple points of FLOCK! news for you:
1) Look forward to a PC patch which should be roughly available Friday afternoon. It will contain fixes to some technical issues some users have experienced, as well as have some small game tuning adjustments. I'll send out a group broadcast to the FLOCK group once it's ready for download.
2) There's more tuning improvements we want to do to the game (and maybe even some new gameplay content), so over the next couple weeks keep your eyes here for some exciting updates.
3) I've set up a Steam Official Game Group, if you're a Steam member, please join it now and show support for FLOCK!
FLOCK! is now out on all platforms: PC, 360, and PS3! So what are you waiting for? It's flocking time to buy it! Go ahead, I'm going to keep making flock puns until you do. Speaking of which,
Our website has launched - MotherFlocker.com (remember the mothership is called the MotherFlocker?). The website will serve as a hub of user participation in the game - we're looking to include an interface to both the map server and the leaderboards right on the site. For now though, you can check out all our trailers, blog posts, and Unity forums via the site. There's even two fun flash games - I've got the high score for both so far... perhaps you can beat me?
While I think up some more puns, let's check out one last flocking awesome trailer:
Woo, FLOCK! is out on PC & 360, and coming to PS3 tomorrow. Also, the 360 map server will be launching this morning, which will allow you to share your map creations with the world. In the mean time, feel free to create maps and save them locally, you'll be able to share them online once the Map Sharing Server launches later today. I'm looking forward to seeing your cool creations!
We've got another FLOCK! video for you to enjoy. This week, check out the co-op gameplay as you and a friend work together to abduct the animals.
Co-op mode will challenge you and a friend to work as a team - you'll need to coordinate your actions to overcome the various obstacles in your path: really heavy boulders will require you to lift them together, gates require one player to lift them as another player herds animals through them, weeds require one player to stomp them while another herds animals through the cleared area. On some levels, each player will only have access to one beam type, so you'll have to get help from your friend to beat the level. This leads to some frantic fun as you try to work together for the best level times.
Also, another note to how people can find new ways to solve puzzles using our advanced physics system: In the trailer, a river is crossed by placing a long boulder on top of a bridge and herding cows over it. This is something I had never anticipated as a viable solution as our original intent was to have the cows trample the fence and use the wood plank to cross the pit. Just goes to show how flexible the system is... and I'm looking forward to seeing your creative solutions once we launch.
We also have two new wallpaper packs this week. The first is a new classy wallpaper pack by the Proper Games crew, and the second awesome set is by Unity member DX. Check them both out and spruce up your desktop.
We launch next week!
» PC - April 7 (preorder/demo now at... Capcom Store, Steam, or Impulse) » Xbox Live - April 8 » PlayStation Network - April 9
I've got a FLOCK!ing ton of news for you tonight. First off, we've just launched the FLOCK! PC Demo on Steam. In the demo, you can play through seven fun levels and herd three different types of animals. You'll get to play with the tractor beam and make crop circles with the depressor beam. You'll even get access to the map editor! To sweeten the deal, Steam has a 10% off pre-order program if you buy the game before it launches.
Speaking of launch dates, we now have a PS3 release date -- shouldn't come as any surprise that it's the same week as the others:
» PC - April 7 » Xbox Live - April 8 » PlayStation Network - April 9
