Hey, I know it's a little early to be saying "Happy Halloween!"  But I'm not sure I'm going to have enough free time to say it on time.. so here it is!

DARKSTALKERS Is an awesome franchise. I miss it dearly.  I wish Capcom would make a Darkstalkers 4 already. It can even be 3d on a 2d plane.. although I'd prefer high res sprites myself.. Anyway, back to Darkstalkers, and some history thereof.

The first in the series, fully titled Darkstalkers - The Night Warriors was released on US playstations in 1996. I played it a little bit. Capcom basically built off of the Street Fighter II engine. It added a few very innovative things to capcom's 2D fighters. Air block, chain Combos and crouch walking were welcome additions indeed.

It wasn't untill 1996's Night Warriors-Darkstalker's Revenge that I REALLY got into it. I still play it once and a while on my Sega Saturn.  I didn't have a Saturn back then, because they were uber costly. But back in 1999 i got one realitivly cheap.

 I completley missed out on DarkStalkers 3. It (well the best version of it) was released on the Playstation in 1998. But I did pick up Darkstalkers Chronical: The Chaos Tower for PSP, when I had one. It was pretty darn fun, And I learned that it was originally going to be for the Sega Dreamcast... Go figure. It had every single Darkstalkers character as a playable.

Since then A lot of the Darkstalkers characters have made Cameos in various mash up games. Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, NamcoXCapcom, Gem Fighter, Puzzle Fighter, Cross Edge, and a few others.

There was also a horrible HORRIBLE Cartoon made for the US. It only ran for 13 episodes but I'm glad it got cancelled.. I'm not even going to post a link on here.. it's that bad.

But On the other hand there was a pretty cool OAV made for it. Here's a music video made from some clips.

Udon Entertainment even put out some comics based around the Darkstalkers Universe.  The series is to continue soon, with the next installment set for an early 2010 release.
