This Is My Life On Megaman

    Thursday, October 9, 2008, 11:25 PM [General]

Hello, my name is Anne (alias Ryouko), and I am a Megaman addict.

With that statement aside, I want to give a heartfelt thanks to Capcom and Keiji Inafune for creating such a wonderful series for us all. The characters and stories of Megaman are something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, and it's something I love to share with everyone around me. Over the years I have gathered several collectibles from many of the genres of Megaman - from t-shirts, to artwork, books, dvds, mangas, and so on... what I have displayed in the photographs below are my favorites! Sadly, I have never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Inafune in person or obtain his autograph... so winning this contest would be an absolute dream come true.

Megaman has been a part of me ever since the birth of Megaman 1 on the NES. I remember it was the one of the very first games my brother and I played together, so many years ago. Since then my fandom has blossomed to an extrodinary amount, and I am just as much in love with this series as I was back then!

I have also included photographs of the costumes I have crafted and worn to various conventions and events. At this current point in time, I have constructed 9 various Megaman costumes! Roll.EXE (Battle Network), Cross Fusion Roll.EXE (Battle Network, Anime), Eugene Chaud (Battle Network), Dr. Ciel (Megaman Zero), Harpuia (Megaman Zero, Artwork Version), Aile (Megaman ZX), Aeolus (Megaman ZX Advent), Haruka Hikari (Battle Network), and my latest... Gregar Beast Megaman (Battle Network)! This last costume alone took me an entire year to complete, but it is by far my most favorite and cherished accomplishment!

Back in the summer of 2002, the animated series Rockman.EXE (Megaman NT Warrior) began in Japan. I immediately became fascinated with the re-birth localization of my favorite classic characters, and I was hooked! For the last six years since, I have dedicated my time and efforts to running the longstanding website Rockman.EXE Online (www.rockman-exe.com), to serve the fans a bounty of information and resource. Even though the series and accompanying manga have now concluded, I still maintain the site, which caters to a dedicated family of fans.

The friends I have made through knowing Megaman are so precious to me, and I'm so thankful that we have all been brought together by this lovable series! Every summer all of us gather at an anime/gaming convention called Otakon in Baltimore, Maryland, and hold a Megaman social gathering we have unofficially labeled as "OtaRockman". We wear costumes, hold Battle Network and Star Force tournaments, and even hole up in the same hotel together to enjoy an entire weekend of nothing but Megaman love!

Megaman will continue to influence my life for many years to come, and with such surprises as Megaman 9 this year, I can only imagine what the future will bring!
