So yeah, BCR won their judges choice award. Awesome! Even more than the award itself, however, what I love is this writeup, which I think totally hits the nail on the head.
You can keep your "visionary," cause Capcom is all about the FUN--you know, the kind of games you actually WANT to play, instead of the ones you "should" play. Thanks guys!
The broadest measure of a video game's excellence is also the simplest: “What was the most fun?” This year, Bionic Commando: Rearmed was the pound-for-pound champion of fun. Not, “thought-provoking,” not “awe-inspiring,” not “most visually stunning,” — just “I want to play this” fun. BCR flawlessly bridged the best of two generations, rendering the addictive, endlessly replayable world of the classic 8-bit platformer in the audiovisual tableau of a next-gen console — at a price cheaper than the original by half.

Amen to that. BCR was a blast too play. The main game was a blast to relive and the extras like the challenge rooms and multiplayer added to the replay value and not in a bad way. They were thoughtfully made and I have logged in more hours on the multiplayer than small arms which is a dedicated multiplayer arcade game.
