From the Japanese well-spring of Street Fighter comes this new chart, ranking the console characters alongside the arcade originals in SFIV.
Things to note:
1) The relative difference between the best character in the game and the worst character is perhaps smaller than any SF game in history, and even in the middle, everyone is extremely close.
What does all that nonsense mean? The time spent balancing paid off: according to expert players, SFIV is extremely well-balanced across a large and diverse cast :)
2) Even the worst character (according to this rankings chart) doesn't have many really bad matchups, with most being 4-6 against her. This means that in a series of 10 matches between two experts playing at full capacity, Rose should win 4 of the 10 matches against Sagat.
What's your take-away on this? In almost every case, the better player will win. If you've got the skills, you don't need to worry about a bad character matchup creating insurmountable challenges--if you've got the skills, you'll earn the win.
The original was posted here (in Japanese). What do you think about the matchup scores?
