Resident Evil 4 ended up as their runner-up, alongside such luminaries as Halo, Half-Life 2, and Grand Theft Auto III, with World of Warcraft taking top honors. 

Frankly, that seems a little cheap to me, since if you look at the number of updates and patches, WoW is really more like 150 different games with the same name–and would also be about 200x more expensive than the other contenders if you count up expansions and monthly fees.
