Marvel Vs Capcom 2 combo scientist Magnetro is hanging up his programmable pad and retiring from the amazingly time-consuming combo video biz, but he's left us this gift to remember him by.
When Magnetro first wrote me about the finished video a few days ago, I was blown away, but also worried--this is some truly next-level stuff, with many of these combos involving dozens of special techniques each.
"I'm worried posting it will be nothing but “???” as it looks like just an extended glitch video unless you have a LOT of background understanding."
This is still true, but Magnetro correctly encouraged me to look at it as a goodbye love-letter to Marvel Vs Capcom 2. It's a beautiful game because you can pick it up and mash your way to lots of fun without knowing much, but you can also spend almost 10 years exploring the intricacy and coming up with new forms of insanity.
Hopefully Marvel Vs Capcom 3 can inspire some of the same amazing dedication and I'll show you something equally amazing on that title 10 years from now (although 10 years from now all blogs will be in 4D and posted by Skynet).
He calls this piece "Variable Atmosphere 2" (a sequel to "Variable Atmosphere 1") Enjoy the madness, and should you be so inclined, you can check out the accompanying explanation videos (although even the explanation videos require almost an explanation of their own!).
Hats off to Magnetro, and best wishes on his future endeavors!
