Gamescom is over, and Team MVC3 is gearing up for Tokyo Game Show (where I'm scheduled to be beaten senseless on stage by the lead tester T_T), but producer Niitsuma-san has checked in with a Gamescom report full of the usual tease about what's coming next, as well as some interesting info about the voice options...
--
Hey everyone! This is Niitsuma, who is constantly being sent around the world.
While I know there's plenty to be done in marketing the game internationally, with too much on my plate it kind of wears me out. However, as Japan is still in the middle of an intense heat wave, it might be kind of nice to go to Europe and its 68-degree weather...
Speaking of which, last week I was in Europe to pay a visit to our Capcom Europe branch, and also for Gamescom in Germany. The primary purpose of the visit was to give a presentation to our Capcom Europe staff on how to best promote the game in England, and to support our European fans with press meetings and whatnot. As Capcom did not have a booth at Gamescom, we rented out meeting rooms and hotel suites nearby and had playable versions for members of the press to play around with.
In interacting with the European press, I felt that it was a bit different from North America. The Europeans are a bit more calm and relaxed towards fighting games than the North Americans; they asked plenty of questions about the game, as well as things like "What do you think about the future direction of fighting games", stuff I couldn't answer easily. There were a lot of those types of questions, so in some ways it was a bit difficult.

^Here is where we held all our interviews. We met with almost 20 companies in just one day, so when all was said and done I was completely exhausted.

^The playable version we had available to the press.
Changing gears a bit, last time Kadowaki, the assistant producer on the game, said that it was just about time to reveal a certain something to the public. Well, that "something" is a character reveal of course, but in our final checks we hit a bit of a snag. So we had to change up the characters.
Which means that, yes, the reveal that Dormammu is playable not the "something" that Kadowaki-san was talking about. We're ironing out the kinks, and we'll be able to properly reveal this character very soon, so please be on the lookout for that.
To close things out, how about a little news tidbit? I'm sure everyone is thinking about what's going on with the voice settings.
For MvC3, all Capcom characters will have English and Japanese voices, while the Marvel characters will have English voices only. At first, we planned to have English and Japanese voices for all the characters. But personally, I felt that having the Marvel characters speaking Japanese wouldn't really go well with their image. I gave it a lot of consideration, and the final result was that Marvel characters would have English voices only. It's important to preserve the character's image.
Of course, for the characters with English and Japanese voices, you will be able to set voice settings individually per character. So if you feel that a certain character is definitely in Japanese, or English better suits another character, you can change them as you please.
So we're going to have some Capcom characters who only spoke English in their original games, now with a Japanese vocal recording. It'll be interesting to hear some of these characters in Japanese for the first time.
Well, I guess that just about wraps it up for this week? See you next time...
P.S.
I was in Europe for almost 2 weeks, but I only got to take a few pictures.

^Trafalgar Square in London. It was a nice day, so I definitely had to get some fresh outside air.

^Cologne Cathedral in Germany. I took this pic as I was on my way back to Japan. This incredible sight is just right in front of the station.
^Some of the Capcom Europe staff. They're working really hard out there. And after work, we all went out for dinner. Check out the size of that draft beer - it's 1 whole liter!
