If you're in the Northern California Bay Area and looking for a fight this weekend, you should head on down to the San Jose Bar and Grill on Sunday, September 5th, at for the public debut of the formerly private fightclub known as Keystone II. Keystone II isn't a traditional tournament, or even the world's biggest gathering, but it's always been very special to me because it feels like the kind of place I grew up playing games--in sketchy arcades. When I moved to California as a fresh-faced kid from the innocent meat-packing districts of Chicago to the mean streets of San Jose CA, "Keystone II" was the first place to make me feel like "Hrm, ok. Maybe these guys are cool after all."

Gametrailers has another new Dead Rising 2 developer video blog up today. The team talks about DR2's combination of humor, horror, competition, and coop, and how fans pushed them to make them to expand the game beyond the initially planned feature set. If you missed any of the previous 3 installments, you can check them all out here, and for those of you playing Case Zero, what do you think? Are we having fun yet? I played all the way through to four different endings (if you don't count "just getting torn apart and dying" as an ending), so I'd say I probably got my $5 worth of fun about 10x over. What about you?

I love me some combo videos, but the Combonauts have turned the idea on it's head--instead of going for lots of hits and big damage, they're showing off all the amazing stuff you can do that causes... zero damage. Confused? Just watch the video! It starts a wee bit slow, but gets into some pretty hilarious territory fast. The video really has it all: great knowledge, great ideas, great presentation, and a great love for the game. Nice work guys!

Gamescom is over, and Team MVC3 is gearing up for Tokyo Game Show (where I'm scheduled to be beaten senseless on stage by the lead tester T_T), but producer Niitsuma-san has checked in with a Gamescom report full of the usual tease about what's coming next, as well as some interesting info about the voice options... -- Hey everyone! This is Niitsuma, who is constantly being sent around the world.

At the UK's recent Super Versus Battle tournament, the good people at Guinness World Records hunted the elusive Street Fighter superstar Daigo "the Beast" Umehara, in order to present him with an award for "most consecutive tournament wins."
Full press release from Team Mad Catz with all the juicy details after the jump! via Joystiq (and actually being there to see it :)) |
