Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Showdown: Amingo vs Blackheart

Monday, June 22, 2009, 04:43 PM [Capcom Digital Downloads]

Marvel.com has another MVC2 showdown, this time pitting MVC2's own plucky little plantman against... the son of Satan.

In addition to the bios and other character notes, there's also another "who's best" poll.  According to Marvel's notoriously rigged results, Blackheart currently has a slight 4-1 advantage, but how can you not vote for an anthropomorphised cactus up against a nigh-omnipotent hellspawn? Come on people!

Other questions to consider:  Amingo has maracas, Blackheart, none.  Amingo has a delightful hat, Blackheart: nope.

    Check it out here.

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Showdown: Akuma vs Venom

Friday, June 19, 2009, 12:27 PM [Capcom Digital Downloads]

Marvel.com has the first in a series of cool Marvel vs Capcom character showdowns, complete with bios, stats, first appearance, etc.

More importantly, it has a poll to decide who is best.  Althought it is Marvel.com, I still find it unbelievable that a "smybiote" is beating Akuma.  Hey Venom, Gene Simmons called:  he wants his schtick back.

The Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Hip-Hop Mixtape

Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 04:24 PM [Capcom Digital Downloads]

Love Marvel vs Capcom 2, but tired of this

So are we.  Tournament players have been burning their own MVC2 boot discs for years just to escape the smooth jazz, and we're happy to announce today that Capcom has heard their cries of pain.

Enter: the Marvel vs Capcom 2 Mixtape.  We've enlisted a standout list of hip-hop heroes to help us apologize for years or that song, and Kotaku gave you a sneak peak at our lineup, including:

    - Ohno from Stones Throw

    - Raekwon
    - Talib Kweli
    - E40
    - DJ Qbert
    - Hieroglyphics
    - The Grouch and Eligh of Living Legends
    - Planet Asia
    - MC Supernatural
    - Havoc of Mobb Deep
    - DJ Toure
    - And more...

This isn't some flavor of the month publicity stunt either--John D has put this mix together with some love.  The rhymes make it clear that this crew don't just know hip-hop, they also know their Capcom fighters.

The whole thing will be available for the low, low price of FREE right here on Unity, as well as Marvel.com, tu4ar.com, or anywhere you find people talking MVC2.  Get hype!

Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Hyper Combo Bonanza

Thursday, May 28, 2009, 12:08 PM [Capcom Digital Downloads]

The guys over at IGN are clearly having as much fun with MVC2 as we are, and have put together a fun video that runs through a combo for EVERY character in the game with those pretty new graphical filters.

Although most only get enough screentime to do one Hyper Combo, one thing I think it's easy to forget about MVC2 is that every one of the massive 56-character cast has just as many moves (or more) as one of the Street Fighters.  Multiple supers, lots of specials, and high-flying super jump madness.

There's a reason this game has stayed so hype for close to a decade!
