Believe it! San Francisco Bay Area gamers: we want YOU to come in and help us test a new game. Yes, you! No human outside of the Capcom family has ever seen the material we’re testing, so this is a very special chance for a few lucky fans.
The test is Friday, November 21st, from 1pm-7pm, here, at the mighty Capcom HQ. If you’re interested and can actually make it, send THIS GUY a message and tell us your:
-Name
-Age
-Phone number (a real one, since if you are picked, we will actually call you)
-Favorite type of game (e.g. platformer, fighter, RTS, FPS, sim, etc.)
The lucky fans who are chosen will be showered with pizza (not literally), swag, and what’s more, we’ll even listen to what you have to say about the game. Shocking!
The test runs from 1-7pm, which is a bit of a marathon, but trust me—this is a good one! Be sure to apply if you can make it!
**We unfortunately can't use anybody that's come to one of our earlier focus tests, so if you've helped us out before, give somebody else a chance!
For anyone thinking about getting into the game industry, here's some good advice from one of the smartest ducks in the business, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell.
Along with the more common sense kinds of things you might have heard elsewhere, Gabe has a lot of uniquely clever ideas, including how to shut down parents complaints that you're wasting your time with "kid stuff":
GN: Video games are growing faster than the rest of the economy, combine the best aspects of the high tech and entertainment industries, and they are personally satisfying to work on.
Take that, Dad!
He also has lots of good thoughts on the role of school (don't drop out just yet), how to get experience, and what the future might hold.
Continuing the proud tradition of Capcom-themed baked goods, Street Fighter superfan Paul sent in some pics of his recent effort: Gingerbread Ryu.
Paul also sent in a "Twas the Night Before Christmas"-inspired poem to accompany the Ryu cookies, though I've buried that after the link to protect the innocent.
It was a month before Christmas and all through the house, A Ryu Gingerbread Man was made, so fierce it'd eat a mouse. Paul Gale was the creator of this tasty little treat, He knew from the beginning that Ryu could not be beat. With his girlfriend Ashley by his side, and an oven very near, It would be Street Fighter and dough that would strike fear. So Ryu was baked at 360 degrees, Why it would bring Zangief and his Piledriver to the knees. How long would it last, this Capcom inspired art? Oh about as long as it took to drive to the grocery mart. So Ryu was eaten, and saddened was Paul, But all was not lost, for these pictures tell all.
It's Election Day here in the partially sunny USA. That means it's the duty of every citizen-type to get out there and vote! Chances are someone in your family, or the family of somebody you know got shot at (or was even hit) to let
us get away with this circus we call democracy, so get out there and do
them proud!
Yes, it may look like your state, municipality, etc. is a foregone conclusion, but it's only a foregone conclusion because a bunch of people exactly like you are willing to go out there and actually vote for their choices. And even apart from national and state elections, there are probably lots of zany referenda for you to vote on (referenda are where we can make all kinds of crazy changes to laws while nobody else is really looking, so read up on yours!).
Finally, your boss is required to give you two hours to go do it, so go get some fresh air and breathe deep--it's the smell of democracy! Woot.
Okay fine, given that the Capcom employees attending are actually from Capcom Europe, and, like, live there and stuff, maybe it wasn't an "adventure" but I did hear that the 2008 Eurogamer Expo was an awesome event.
Attendees reported that, much like TGS, the Capcom booth was crushing the competition in terms of traffic and interest (as you can see in the pictures). Go team!
