    Help Us Maximize the Awesome

    Friday, August 21, 2009, 07:16 PM [Community]

Do you have Capcom stories?  Send them to us!

We were talking earlier today about how hand out Unity points as a "thank you" to members who send us tips that end up on the front page. Then we had the genius idea that--hey--maybe we should tell people that we're doing that! 90 seconds of photoshop later, and behold, we're telling the world.

All you have to do is send a PM (click the big "mail" icon) to Shawn, Joveth, or Seth with a link to your story/blog/factoid/amusing animated gif, and if we post it to the front page, we'll say "thanks!" with a fat sack of Unity points.

Okay, there is no sack, but there will be plenty of points for your trouble, so if you see something good, send it in!  We'll make it worth your while.

PS- what are all these points good for?  Check here for the lowdown on how you turn the points into very real, very free, and very awesome Capcom swag.  The kind you can see here, here, and especially here.

Capcom Fans Win World Cosplay Championships

    Thursday, August 6, 2009, 12:51 PM [Community]

Yuri Hayashi and Rie Otsuka (from Japan) defeated competitors from 14 other countries to take home the prize at the Nagoya competition.

They were rocking Sengoku Basara (aka "Devil Kings" round these parts) outfits and choreography, which I'm sure made all the difference, and is perfect timing for the upcoming Sengoku Basara 3...

Unity Streaming EVO Live This Weekend

    Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 09:31 PM [Community]

Just a note to share the address of the Capcom Unity stream for this weekend's EVO Finals.

There's nothing there YET, but come this Friday at 10am, it will transform into a steaming wellspring of hot, hot fighting game action, via our friends at Ustream so check it out:

    www.capcom-unity.com/go/evo/live

For those who haven't been to EVO before and will be watching this weekend instead of attending, check out this piece from 1UP's intrepid journalist-turned-fighting gamer Richard Li about his first trip to EVO, why he's taking his vacation just to go back, and what the event has come to mean to him.  Great piece on how what starts being all about the competition grows to become about fan-dom, camaraderie, and great friends.

That's the true lifeblood of the event, and why everyone who goes, goes back.

    Monday, July 13, 2009, 12:19 PM [Community]

One weekend.  6 tournaments.  50,000 matches!

Old rivalries will flare, dreams will be crushed, and champions will emerge.  It's my favorite weekend of the year:  EVO!

I'll see tons of old friends, make some new enemies, and be there to scream my way through the whole show.  Ono-san will be there!  Daigo will be assassinating fools!  Justin Wong, John Choi, Alex Valle!  The best players in the world!

While I'm busy threatening people with disqualification, Kramer, Randy, Gerald, and a few other lucky Capcom staff will be down there to show off Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, Fate codes/unlimited, and the first publicly playable Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on X360 and PSN.

It's free for anybody to come and watch, to by all means GO if you can, but if you can't make it, this year will have a HQ live stream of great matches running ALL WEEKEND, plus commentary to help you make sense of all the action.  The stream will be available RIGHT HERE on Capcom Unity, so stay tuned.

Capcom-flavored version of the press release after the jump, and full info at EVO2K.com!  Countdown clock and bracket assignments for competitors at EVO live broadcast site!  EVOOooo!

On July 17th, the world's largest and longest-running fighting game competition returns to Sin City at the Rio Resort and Casino. The heart, history, and unbelievable skills of the fighting game community will be on display as the planet's top fighting gamers assemble from around the globe to duke it out on today's hottest games, including Street Fighter IV, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.

EVO 2009 World Finals will feature:
