In addition to the new characters, and online matchmaking, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars also got an in-depth rebalancing. It ranges over everything, from cleaning up some pesky infinites, to character buffs, to new launcher properties, and more.
And in closing, just a random video of some great LA players (Il.nd and RoyalFlush) going at it on the arcade Tatsunoko Vs Capcom--the game that started the wave of excitement that eventually brought us the TvC: Ultimate All-Stars we'll see soon. <3 OG TvC too :)
Title pretty much says it all, but seeing the whole gang together really just makes me smile. Can you spot new additions like Frank West, Zero, and Joe the Condor lurking amidst the familiar faces?
Seeing the final box art also makes me feel like it's officially time to smile--the game they said would never make it over here is not only coming, it's coming in style, with some great new characters, and don't miss that beautiful little blue sticker in the upper left: "Nintendo Wi-fi Connection"!
Thanks to everyone that's supported us in making this happen, and come January 26th, I'll see you online...
Season's Beatings IV will feature giant tournaments for all of your Capcom favorites, including Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, and Street Fighter III: Third Strike.
To go with my sweet beard, I'll also be carrying a Santa-sack of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars strapped to my back. This will be people's first chance to get hands-on with Frank West and Tekkaman Blade, as well as all the returning cast (big thanks to Niitsuma-san and Neo-G for helping me pull that off!).
The Season's Beatings fun doesn't end there, however--in addition to the tournaments, the SBIV crew is staging an epic SFIV rematch of the EVO 2009 finals, with a first-to-ten, winner-take-all showdown between Justin Wong (US champ, 2nd place at EVO), and Daigo Umehara (first place, EVO 2009).
TvC producer Niitsuma-san strikes back this week with a blog in response to your requests from last time when he asked "what do you most want to hear about?"
Last time I asked everyone about what topic I should write. Thanks for sending a lot of messages! I was guessing that everybody wanted to hear about the new additional characters, but a lot of people said, "why not all 3 topics?" LOL
It might get too long, but I will do my best to explain as much as I can. Rather than stuff all 3 topics into one post, I would like to start off with:
"how the project got started"
"Cross Generation of Heroes" (CGOH) was released at the arcade and then on the Wii and we received some good feedback. Therefore there was a discussion in Capcom about whether we can release it in the pan-western territories.
But, once I got this started, the complexity of the franshises in the pan-western territories, amount of time it takes to work on each of them, money, people, other projects, etc. There was a time when the project was about to be put on hold. (to say the truth, the revenue of the game wasn't really the problem)
Addition to that, the amount of budget I was able to put on this projected was very limited... At first, I was thinking of making like a "TvC2" for all territories, but I decided I change my mind:
"First release a 'pan-western' SKU of CGOH, and make it a success, and then make a '2' next time!"
I was confident and I knew that the "VS series" will be well-received in the pan-western territories. As well as that, the developer staff did a great job on it and the quality of the game is very good, so it would be a waste not to finish with just 1 title.
So at an early stage of the project, the project might have even stopped, but we managed to manage the budget and receive the approval from the company, and now we have great feedback from pan-western territories.
It got quite long, but to make a long story short, "Sorry we took a while, but I'm glad everything worked out in the end" LOL
And at the very last minute, there was a discussion with the Japanese sales and management and it was decided in the very last meeting, so it was the very last minute when we took Japanese voice overs... At first I was planning to take all voices in English.
Uh, getting long here.
To say the truth, there was much more going on, but if I talk everything, the company will get upset at me, so please let me finish here. LOL
If you have any questions, please send your messages here and hopefully get to reply to them at some other opportunity.
I'll talk about characters next time. Thanks and see you.
TvC director Ishizawa-san is back to talk about showing off two his two new characters, Frank West and Tekkaman Blade, at TGS, and of course the vicious beating he received from a random audience member at Tokyo Game Show.
The director and "Bancho" both agreed to face off against audience members on stage, and for the record, these guys are NO JOKE. The TvC director is a regular at the Osaka A-Cho arcade (he is known at "Neo-G" in competitions), and Bansho is an absolute monster on virtually every fighter imaginable.

Voltekka Party!
How was Tokyo Game Show 2009?
Frank West announced on stage! Video comment from voice over actor Mr Toshiyuki Morikawa! (he's famous in Japan!) And gameplay infront of the audience for the first time live! We did quite a lot of things - did you enjoy it?
On the 26th and 27th, me and Tokuda-kun (a.k.a. Bancho) from Eighting did our live gameplay and I'm glad that it was very well received.
...uh Kadowaki-san, do I have to mention this...? :(
So, on the 27th, it turned out to be that Bancho and I were to play against one of the audience members on stage.
And the result was... everyone probably knows already...
I LOST!! TOTALLY! Beautifully! LOL
My character picks were Old & New Tekkaman - Tekkaman Blade and Tekkaman. The auidence member chose to play Tekkaman Blade and Ryu.
It was his very first time to play Tekkaman Blade, so I thought it best to let him practice a bit at the beginning so that he could get used to the character... so I was taking it easy... But he was quite aggressive, relentlessly beating me up!
He told us that he played "Cross Generation of Heroes". He did a Joudan Sokutou Kick with the wall combo (I thought it was his very first time to use Tekkaman Blade!), and he did well with the aerial dash and the mid-air Dash, finally finishing me with a Level 3 Hyper Combo...I wasn't even able to attack back and show off!
The audience was very good. I was completely defeated. Even as I think about it now, I feel very regretful about losing! :(
But Bancho redeemed us and managed to beat the second audience member on stage So R&D was able to show off our skills as well... I think...
So, ending the blog like this isn't good, so I wanted to tell you this:
If I had the chance, I was hoping to show something special on stage in front of the audience. But as you know, even before I got to do that, I was absolutely defeated.
So I would like to show it to you now!
Introducing, "Double Voltekka"!!
(please watch out for the sound volume)
... well, it's just doing "Variable Combination"...:P
But Tekkaman and Tekkaman Blade, co-starring Old and New Tekkamans... great huh? It's really cool, with those two screaming "Voltekka" one after the other! (To get everybody listening to the voices, I didn't include the music)
This is one way of playing! LOL Please explore/imagine playing these characters in many different ways!
Another one!
"Triple Voltekka"!!
(please watch out for the sound volume)
Well, this is just another use of the "Delayed Hyper Combo" LOL. But remember, you need to execute this at the right time to do these supers. This is cool beause you can link this from a Hyper Combo. Please enjoy each "Voltekka!" voice as well. LOL
... Awww, I wanted to do this on the stage......... :(
So that's it for now.
Release date is now confirmed, so please look forward to the game!
