Attention Mega Man fans: The much-loved Mega Man Press Kits are going on sale at the Capcom Store at 3pm PST tomorrow, October 9th! They will be selling at the regular list price of $49.95.
If you were one of the lucky community members who received an advance purchase code, you need to use it NOW. The code does not guarantee you a copy of the press kit, it just lets you cut in line to buy one. If you wait until they are all sold out, you and that code will be out of luck, so buy yours today if you got a code.
There are a VERY limited number of these in existence, so if you want one and can’t win our contest, get ready. They are going to go fast, so get your buying finger prepped and stay tuned!
And while you’re at the store, remember, if you spend more than $75 (and you’re mostly there if you buy the press kit), you score free shipping on your order, so be sure to check out the other goodness floating around. In addition to lots of hard-to-find games, books, and cool shirts, you’ll also find things like this Chun Li SFIV statue, which is not available *anywhere* outside of the Capcom store.
One important note—do not order the Mega Man 9 shirt and press kit together. Since the Mega Man 9 shirt is on back-order, and the press kits are sent out first-come, first-served, if you wait until the shirts are back in (should be about a week), your order may not be processed until the shirts are back in stock. If the kits sell out super fast, as I expect they might, you could be out of luck.
Mega Man 9 Kits on Sale Tomorrow!
Mega Man 9: New Content Hits Today!
Chances are the Mega Man fanatics are already on top of this, but just in case you've been sleeping, you should know that two new pieces of Mega Man 9 DLC drop today for WiiWare (XBLA is tomorrow, October 7th, and it's out on PSN on October 9th).
First up is the long-awaited playable Proto Man. He's packing Charge Shot, an extra slidey Slide, and the shot-reflecting shield will make Proto the likely choice of speed runners everywhere. He also has some weaknesses--basically he gets rocked twice as hard, both in terms of damage and bounceback, but playing with Proto Man is a whole new experience.
And though Proto Man seems to be what the Mega Man faithful have really been waiting for, the second piece of DLC (Endless Attack) really surprised me by also being awesome. It's a semi-randomly generated level that just doesn't quit. You start with your full complement of weapons stolen from the Robot Masters, as well as Rush, and you're scored by how many screens you advance before your inevitable death. Sounds basic to talk about, but really fun in action.
Full press release after the jump!
Hey Mega Man junkies,
We’re proud to announce that the first of the Downloadable Content packs for Mega Man 9 will be available this week. Here’s the run down on what’s coming out.
Endless Attack – Test your skills on a stage without end. Try to break the record for getting the farthest. Results will be displayed in the Rankings page. Not compatible with other Challenges.
Proto Man Mode - Play the game as Proto Man. Some of Proto Man's abilities may differ from Mega Man's. Proto Man has the Charge Shot ability, Power Slide ability, and a shield that he can utilize to deflect bullets at enemies. However, Proto Man also takes double damage and has double bounce back when he is hit.
There is no story for Proto Man and he is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges.
Both DLC packs are available now on WiiWare Channel today (October 6 th, 2008) with XBLA following on October 7 th, and PSN releasing October 9 th.
In honor of this, we have posted Proto Man screens on our press site ( www.press.capcom.com). Please enjoy!

Mega Man 9: Why You Need it (In Under 3 Minutes)
Stuttering Craig pretty much nails it.
Covering standard review points (sound, graphics, gameplay, difficulty, and overall) but in a unique way, he delivers the goods in a nutshell. It's everything you want in a review--clear + to the point, as told by someone who obviously knows his stuff but also knows what people new to this whole Mega Man thing might want to hear about.
With easy access to Mega Man 1, 2, and 9 now at your fingertips (MM9 on PSN, XBL, and VC, MM1, MM2, and MM9 all on Virtual Console), you can taste the OG magic that inspired the current generation of nerds to get into this crazy games business in the first place. Do it now!
