    Mega Man 9 Seekrit Update

Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 02:00 PM [Mega Man]

Shortly after the release of Mega Man 9, as fans were discovering loads of great secrets, I made an innocent little post, mentioning an as-yet-undiscovered nugget in the game.

The Mega Man-loving internets were not pleased that a secret might have escaped their all-seeing eyes, and rolled up their collective sleeves to unearth the nugget.  I've been completely blown away by their response, which has generated a virtual encyclopedia of amazing little Mega Man tricks and trivia (the video above is just one small part of the total).

Though they haven't discovered the it yet, I did want to say that everyone at Capcom is impressed by the research, and offer this: Based on what I've seen so far, I'd say you're about halfway towards discovering the secret.

Most Mega Man fans want to strangle me for not spilling the beans, but I <3 mysteries and they're getting pretty rare in the internet age.  I didn't intend to torture anyone when I mentioned it so long ago, and I'd advise you to just let it go if it's driving you nuts, but to those still searching, I promise that:

-the secret is not a snipe hunt, macguffin, or otherwise faked.

-I will tell you when it is discovered.

-AFAIK (and I keep tabs), it has not yet been discovered.

    Mega Man Starforce 3 Contest

Friday, June 12, 2009, 01:17 PM [Mega Man]

In honor of the imminent arrival of Mega Man Starforce 3, the Mega Man Network is running an art contest

They're giving away a copy of Mega Man Star Force 3, the gorgeous Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works art book, and a MM Star Force 3 mini poster.

We like those kids and this contest so much, that Unity has decided to add a few extra prizes.  In addition to the Mega Man Network prizes, all 3 winners will receive the mysterious (and rad) Mega Man Kit for DSi.

    Check it:

The DSi kit comes with Limited Edition MegaMan Laser enscribed PolyCarbonite Console Case w/ secret 3 Game Storage Shelf, Graphic Screens, Three  2-in-1 SD Card and Game Cases, Precision Stylus, 2-in-1 Screen Cleaner Wrist Strap with Retro 8-Bit MegaMan + 1GB SD MEMORY CARD.

We've also got a Mega Man kit for DS-Lite, and both will be available in a special bundle over at the Capcom Store.  Begin nagging Darin... now, and head here to enter the contest (ends June 30th).

    Thanks Nytetrayn!

Keiji Inafune Signing 500 Servbot Mugs by Hand

Thursday, June 11, 2009, 04:52 PM [Mega Man]

Next time you're feeling grumpy and want to think Capcom is just another soulless company out to separate you from your dollars with our insidiously delightful games, just watch this video and reconsider.

This is Keiji Inafune, Capcom's Managing Corporate officer, Head of Research & Development Management Group and Online Business, father of Mega Man, Dead Rising, and more.  In other words:  a busy guy.

Here he is signing 500 Servbot mugs by hand. This is a guy who actually had to go to the hospital after his neck seized up during the NYC 20th anniversary signing because he wanted to make sure to get to everyone in the line, even when the event was long over.  The guy whose office is a veritable shrine to fan-made everything.

That's who we've got running Capcom.  <3 fans.

Mega Man on the Verge of Official Robot Fame

Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 01:29 PM [Mega Man]

Who's that knocking at the Robot Hall of Fame's door?  That's right:  it's Mega Man.

After our initial surge to help the Blue Bomber at least defeat that ridiculous poetry-writing Swiss robot, the little robot that could has been rocketing up the charts, and is in position to win this year's nomination.

Tell your friends to vote here and let's put Rock over the top.

Thanks to everyone who has shown him the love in thanks for all the years of fun.  You guys make Inafune proud!

    Thanks Protodude

Say "Good Morning" with a Servbot Coffee Mug

Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 05:46 PM [Mega Man]

Well, you actually you'd probably be saying "좋은아침이야!" since the Servbot mugs were only distributed in Korea.

The mugs come with Keiji Inafune's autograph, and his other signature Mega Man drawing on the bottom.  Hotness!
