When I heard Resident Evil 4 was coming to the Wii, I was pretty skeptical. RE4 is one of my all-time favorites, and I didn't want to see it getting a gimmicky hand-wavey treatment. Instead, RE4 Wii turned out to be my very favorite RE4 experience, and the one I actually recommend to people that haven't played it yet.
RE5 + Sony's Move controller is now shaping up to pull off the same trick. If you don't believe me, here's what Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft had to say about it when he went hands-on last week:
"When Capcom showed survival horror game Resident Evil 5 being playing with PS3 Move motion controls at last year's Tokyo Game Show, I quietly snickered to myself. No, actually, it may have been audible. Boy, was I ever wrong.
Let's be honest, it's easy to assume tacked on motion controls are a gimmick. Really easy.
Yet, I didn't get that feeling with the Move controls for Resident Evil 5. I was bracing myself for that feeling, but it wasn't there. In fact, in the hands on time I had with them at E3 last week, they actually felt better than the straight up controller — this coming from someone who generally prefers traditional game controls."
Read his full impressions here, and definitely give this game a try--I think it's a great introduction for anyone that missed RE5, and a whole new experience for anyone that played it through the first time.
