Custom SF2 Cabinet for One Winner, Papercraft Mini-Cabs for All

Wednesday, October 7, 2009, 01:35 PM [Street Fighter]

Capcom will be auctioning off this awesome custom SF2 cabinet (hand-painted by UDON's Long Vo) next week at the games' industry annual Nite2Unite charity dinner.  While that puts the auction itself out of reach of a lot of you, our own Kevin has caught papercraft fever and cooked up a beautiful, print-out-able version of the cabinet as well.

While only one lucky duck will take home the cabinet, the magic of papercraft, turns us all into winners.  Kind of.

Print out the image below, and get to folding (he put a finished version up on the infamous Capcom whiteboard)

G4's Super Street Fighter IV Preview

Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 01:39 PM [Street Fighter]

G4's preview on forthcoming uber-fighter, Super SFIV, full of beautiful footage and juicy hints of things to come from Ono-san.

For the hardcore, across the many video interviews we were recording at TGS, I basically showed off a ton of specific tricks, setups, and interesting move properties for Juri and T. Hawk.  Unfortunately, the video editors understandably like flashy ultras over nerdy tricks, so some of them may be cut.  Adding to the challenge is that not all of the tricks get shown off in any one interview, so you'd probably have to piece together all the clips from the various outlets (including euro outlets) to get them all, pokemon-style.

In this one, I do one tricky thing ~1:30--Juri's "fireball"-ish thing, combo'd into divekick (which currently hits as an overhead!).  It's a bit tricky to set up, but lets you do a lot of crazy fun stuff.  She's a beast!

Street Fighter IV Alt Costume Concept Art

Thursday, September 17, 2009, 03:48 PM [Street Fighter]

Over at the Japanese SFIV blog, Shiozawa-san recently shared some of concept sketches for the SFIV alt. costumes.  In addition to the art, she explains that the motivation behind the alt costumes was that they be outfits the characters would actually wear in the course of their individual pursuits.

So for instance, Blanka is adventuring through the jungle, Cammy has a "cold weather operation" suit (although I'd suggest, I dunno, pants?), and Dan has a special training outfit for all the extra time he spends practicing to actually win a match.

2009 Super Battle Opera DVD Preview

Wednesday, September 16, 2009, 12:51 PM [Street Fighter]

Arcadia Magazine has posted a preview of this year's sexciting SBO footage (Super Battle Opera is a great tourney where Japan's best-of-the-best arcade champions face off).

It's just a teaser (you have to buy the paper Arcadia magazine to get more footage), but it does have a very awesome final-match comeback from Kyabetsu Viper against the monstrous Iyo Dhalsim.

There's some comparatively anti-hype Virtua Fighter after the freak-out inducing SFIV footage.  Skipping is advised if you're feeling sleepy :P

SFIV Goes Retro with Fan-Made Sprites

Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 04:20 PM [Street Fighter]

Plenty of people have been asking for SFIII characters to appear in SFIV, but over in the bowels of the Shoryuken forums, Steamboy33 has taken matters into his own hands and put the SFIV characters into SFIII.

He's created a series of nicely done 2D sprites based on SFIV's 3D models, complete with accompanying screenshots.

And if SFIII isn't OG enough for you, how about Dan vs Abel in... SF1!
