Actually, in the MHFU (and others) you can destroy boulders. Each hit though, whether a bomb, weapon, kick, or taunt punch counts as only 1 hit point. So it takes a long time to break them. Not impossible, just not always advantageous in egg quests based on time. Moises and I used to do this back in the day as a side game to see who could break them faster. Found out the taunt gesture is usually fastest, since most melee weapon strikes make you bounce back. :)
