A few of our very active members and Monster Hunter Pros have taken the time to share some of their knowledge and favorites of the game to help you out in Freedom Unite! 

MoisesL - PSN: MoisesL

Character Name: MoisesL, it's my first name and the L is for my last name. Nothing special.

Hours spent in the world of Monster Hunter: I've spent about 6000 hours+ on the Monster Hunter franchise.

Weapon(s) of Choice: I prefer all of the weapon types. As for a single favorite weapon... Well, I've always loved my Black Katana MKII. 

Favorite Armor Set: It'd have to be Ioprey Armor. 

Favorite Environment: Moat Arena! It has awesome music and is very unique in it's own way compared to the other arenas.

Favorite Monster to Hunt: Favorite monster... That's a tough one, I'd have to say Rathian. She's always been my favorite to fight since the original Monster Hunter.

What keeps you playing: There are many things that keep me drawn to the Monster Hunter series, the lush enviroments, the character customization, and last but not least.. playing with friends, having people to play with in Monster Hunter really makes a difference, that's where the game truly shines.

Funniest moment while hunting: Ah, it was back on the original Monster Hunter. I tried to save Yuffie from a Gravios firebeam attack with my Lance.. I missed the charge attack and ran out of stamina right in front of her and it killed both of us. 

Tips to share with the other hunters: Oh you know, the usual. Hit it until dies, etc.etc. I'm kidding you, honestly though. To everyone that's new out there or are interested in trying Monster Hunter, you've got to know that this game can be extremely challenging, but by being so challenging, it's never been more rewarding. Don't give up guys, it's worth it in the end.

Yuffie - PSN: Sera67

Character Name: Sera

Hours spent in the world of Monster Hunter: No one would belive it, but probably 16-17k plus.

Weapon(s) of Choice: Eternal Annihilator. Mostly for looks and sound. There is G version after you beat Uknalos that's has high damage. Great sword would be my favorite, just for ease of use and you can beat any quest just with the unsheathe attack. Great way for new players to learn patterns and places to attack once you learn the timing. You can go from just unsheathe attack to upswing, and find more time, you can start combining that with other moves.

Favorite Armor Set: Don't have one really. I believe in rolling/dodge skill + armor skills. Learning patterns and knowing how to dodge out really beats any armor set. But, I do like Kirin S just for fact it has no negitive reist and high defense. One of few armors that can take a Fatalis hit.

Favorite Environment: All of them! But it depends on circumstances. The Swamp from MH1, had best start up song at the camp.

Favorite Monster to Hunt: Rathalos and Rathian, at the same time. I have like a 200 kill count in a lot of my monsters, but Rathalos and Rathian are in 600+.

What keeps you playing: I just haven't found a game that is so well set up! I have to say online thru Kai and AdHoc party is what really keeps me playing. Having friends like DanMar have kept me playing for so long. MH is one of best games out there.

Funniest moment while hunting: Having my cat steal my Akantor kill. I was chargeing my lv3 hammer slam when the cat ran past me took it mid charge... *wehack* Quest was done. Here's a pic of Sammy the kill stealer... 

Tips to share with the other hunters: Use whatever you want, and practice. There is no one way to do something. Take your time, and be patient. Collect collect collect! Every item has a use. Never except failure, always try again.

FH - aka Frustrated Hunter

Character Name: I've had a few. I started as WOLF!E, then Soujiro, and now Im just FH.

Hours spent in the world of Monster Hunter: MH:  300, MHF: 400, MHF2: 333, MHFU: 40. I went through 2 characters on MHF and another 2 on MHF2.

Weapon(s) of Choice: Greatsword first. I experimented with Hammers for a brief period, it was a weird time in my career. I am mostly Longswords now, though. 

Favorite Armor Set: Monoblos S. Though the Naracuga armour looks very sexy...

Favorite Environment: Jungle

Favorite Monster to Hunt: Favorite monster would be... That's difficult. There are so many cool monsters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses and little quirks that make the fight worth doing. I would say Yama because he is the only real epic sized monster that fights back, unlike Lao and Shen who just keep walking.

What keeps you playing: Addiction! Everytime I try to get away it just pulls me back in. The thrill of the hunt... My heart starts pumping and it just gets so exciting.

Funniest moment while hunting: Well, my funniest moment would be when a friend and I were introducing a new hunter to a Gypceros. Since he was new to the series and didn't know about Gypceros' special ability (he can fake death) he ran in for a carve! That ended with a lot of swearing from him and a lot of laughing from me and my friend. 

Tips to share with the other hunters: Do not rush your first few hunts. You may want to go kamikaze on the monsters and bash their faces in, but that will only end in you taking a ride on the kitty cart. Hold back, watch how they move, how they atack, see if they have any patterns, look for openings to attack and openings to roll. If you do take that ride on the kitty cart, do not get discouraged. You may have to attempt a quest a few times before you finally slay the monster.

Never think that you suck at this game, in every newb there is a pro. When I first joined Unity, two years ago, I was the newb unable to clear quests. Now two years later people are asking me for advice, and I still don't know how that happened.

Bastion - PSN: bastions6six6

Character Name: Bastion

Hours spent in the world of Monster Hunter: MHF2 was 735.

Weapon(s) of Choice: All, though my favorite is a Great Sword, especially the Seigmund.

Favorite Armor Set: It WAS Akantor, but now Akantor sucks (LOL), so I'ma go with the new Black Fatalis armor.

Favorite Environment: Old Volcano and Jungle.

Favorite Monster to Hunt: I've never fought him, but Yamatsukami looks like a blast. But as of right now... I don't know really, a monster is a monster. I like fighting 'em all!

What keeps you playing: The sense of accomplishment and comradery between other players. Rarely does a game with co-op make you feel like you were ACTUALLY a team and not just gods walking amongst a pile of corpses.

Funniest moment while hunting: Being killed from the fall of a captured Gravios.

Tips to share with the other hunters: Flash Bombs are for nubs! jk lol

Fabrikator - PSN: Fabrikator

Character Name: FAB aka FABRIKATOR

Hours spent in the world of Monster Hunter: 200 hours

Weapon(s) of Choice: The Hunting Horn.. current fav is Magus Ocarina - 1300 atack, 440 poison, made up from Chamelios.

Favorite Armor Set: Gravios Z armor set. Good all around defence, and looks badass!

Favorite Environment: Forrest and Hills for diversity.

Favorite Monster to Hunt: Golden Rathian

What keeps you playing: The ability to play with my crazy friends!

Funniest moment while hunting: While fighting a Red Khezu, our party already died twice. Someone asked if we should abandon, I said "No, we'll be fine....!" I died EXACTLY the moment I said that. False sense of security moment.

Tips to share with the other hunters: The horn is a nice tool to have when hunting in a group, especially when first starting off. You can support your team by playing musical notes on the horn to increase your teams stats (eg: No stamina loss, Or Attack UP, etc). Remember that diffrent horns play different notes, which in effect have diffrent abilities. Oh, and go for the K.O....... ARRRGH IN THA FACE!!!
