    adhocParty Heading to North America

Friday, November 13, 2009, 09:56 AM PST [General]

This morning Sony has announced that adhocParty is coming to North America! For all you Monster Hunters out there, this is amazing news, as you'll finally be able to take the 4 player co-op of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on your PSP online through the PSN with your PlayStation 3. With adhocParty, you'll be able to go online with your friends, communicate via text or voice, and much more.

“The secret to Monster Hunter’s fantastic success on PSP around the world has been the social aspect of the game, which brings together players from all walks of life,” said Mark Beaumont, chief operating officer, North America and Europe, Capcom. “AdhocParty for the PSP system will connect gamers to the content they love as well as to those who share the same passion for gaming. At last, Monster Hunter fans will be able to adventure together, regardless of where they are in North America.”

Finally, play Monster Hunter online with anyone! Look for adhocParty later this month. Check out Sony's release after the jump.
November 13, 2009 – Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced the availability of the online service, “adhocParty for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system,” coming to North America in November. The service, which launched in Japan last year, enables PSP system owners to play some online multiplayer games featuring Ad Hoc mode over the Internet through the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system. PSP titles with Ad Hoc mode traditionally require users to play within close proximity to each other, but with “adhocParty,” PSP owners with a PS3 system can play one another through the PlayStation®Network.

“The PlayStation brand is synonymous with creating exciting new gameplay experiences that connect and challenge people in ways they never thought possible,” said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA. “AdhocParty for the PSP system creates an avenue for gamers to connect, strategize, and compete with each other – Gran Turismo is a great example of this. Polyphony Digital developed robust Ad Hoc features within the game, which are now even more accessible through adhocParty. We saw this as a tremendous opportunity to enhance the PSP system’s online gaming experience and bring the service to our North American consumers.”

Popular titles such as SCEA’s Gran Turismo® for PSP and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite from Capcom® will soon have access to this new social gaming service.

Interoperability between the PSP and PS3 systems through features such as “adhocParty for the PSP system” enable users to interact with other PlayStation gamers in new and innovative ways – all of which is only possible on the PlayStation platform.

Monster Hunter Tri University Event: Study Your Prey - The Great Jaggie

Thursday, November 12, 2009, 05:32 PM PST [General]

We're studying up on the monsters you'll be fighting at the Monster Hunter Tri University night. Yesterday we talked about Qurupeco and his sneaky ways of calling in other monsters to beat the crap out of you. One of the beasties he calls on his the Great Jaggie. He's fast, and loves pounding into you with his hip-check. His tail is very whip like, so it'll do you some good to avoid that.

But, he's not so bad... What makes him a real pain is he also has the ability to call in little minions to come bite at your heels. Thankfully, a few bashes to his skull will knock him out.

The rest of this week and into next we'll be highlighting the monsters you'll be killin' at the event. Oh, and don't forget free food, booze, and swag all through the night. If you want to come hang out with us, check out how to get invited right here!

Monster Hunter Tri University Event: Study Your Prey - The Qurupeco

Wednesday, November 11, 2009, 11:19 AM PST [General]

Monster Hunter Tri University night is coming up, and it's time to start doing your homework. What is Monster Hunter Tri University (MHTU)? Well, you can read up on it here, but to sum up, it's just like our Capcom Fight Club where we're inviting you to come hang out with Capcom peeps, drink free booze, eat free food, and most importantly play our games early! If you're curious about Monster Hunter, come take an early look at Tri.

Now, onto the studying... One of the new monsters we're showing off at the event is the Qurupeco. He's fast, has a nasty bite, can spit green goo, and can cause explosions with his wing tips. Oh, and that's not even the half of it, as he has the huge red chest to make roars of other monsters, calling them in for back-up. Not just any monsters, but usually monsters three times his size... ANGRY monsters. But don't let that scare you, we're going to teach you how to take this colorful, loud, overgrown parrot down. And then carve him up into some sweet new armor and maybe even a freakin' awesome sword/hammer/gun.

Hang out with Capcom + Free drinks, food & swag + Gaming all night = MHTU

Check back here tomorrow for more monsters you'll be hitting 'til it dies. If you want to come hang out with us, check out how to get invited right here!
