Hello folks!
Its been a long time since i last posted. I was trying to do this as a weekly thing of posting up art, but my problems with the internet stopped me from doing so.
But anyway, i got a little more time to draw and work on my craft of coloring. I haven't really had any experience with it, other than the last time i tried to paint. But finally, i now have 5 of my first photoshopped drawings in complete order of my coloring journey! no lie.
So let the splicing commence!
First things first.
Last time i posted something, I got my first and only comment from "cyber sasquatch" (thanks guy! nice avatar btw!, whom requested that i do a dante/zero attempt.
and so here it is
ZERO DANTE!
This is my first attempt at coloring. But seriously, the hardest part was putting these two together! This was a hard mix, because it took awhile for me to get the right attitude and style from both. I decided to go with the zero in trenchcoat instead, not because its easy, but it was hard trying to make dante look comfortable in a zero suit. I have sketches as a witness to my struggle, but i'll probably post those later. I also used a different type of zero outfit, since the other one i did with the strider mix seemed too bulky. Using the art of zero book as a reference really helped alot. One thing i should've done was make the hair white instead of blonde, but oh well. It also still looks a little rough, but i'm pretty proud of it.
And to continue...
I promised there would be less guys this time around, so here are the ladies of the mutated genre
1st up, is my second attempt at coloring
R. TIFFANY
R. Mika and Tiffany from rival schools. This was a pretty simple idea and i liked how it turned out. I got my first chance to do some coloring with skin and tone, and it really brought out the costume i was trying to create from the two. Plus, it was a great way to show that i can draw ladies hopefully just as well with the dudems.
next up...
Felicia Li...
hmm sounds like......uh, nevermind. This is really just felicia with chun li legs and some of her gear. Not really much to it than that, but at least we have an answer to all curiousness. If felicia did have anything resembling human legs, then please let them be chun li's! Color wise, this wasn't what i had hoped for, but it was good enough. I kinda went back and forth with this one, and it was a little more rushed than the others. Also, the shadow in the middle seems a little off. But overall, the drawing proves it purpose...i think.
moving on to...
BIONIC MEGAMANDO!
Whoops! how'd he get in here? Don't worry, more girls will be coming along the way.
Seriously though, this is my third attempt (since my felicia one was started before this and finished after this). I spent so much time on it before i did any other ones, but hopefully the effort shows. But wow, never in a million years would i have thought to pull off something like this! I mean i went from zero to r.tiffany and then to some hyper realistic type coloring i've never tried. To start, I just went from a simple drawing thinking how fun it would be since the new bionic commando game had just been released. But then it got all crazy. One of the main reasons for this of course was..THE ARM. Damn, what in whos name and mind had to create that!? So yeah, that is pretty much my B.S'ed version of the bionic arm since it was pretty hard to get it right. I tried drawing it from a few different poses at first, but this one seemed to be where i wanted it. Proportions are all off and the arm probably looks even more confusing than is. But on the upside, all the ways in trying to make it metallic and rusted looking helped. And from that i tried making megaman blend in just the same. He has this cool "cannon spike" vibe going on which is a plus (kinu is an inspiration).
so yeah, last but not least!
Come again?
HEH, GET IT! Come..morrigan? Camm..again?
err...yeah.
I had this drawing way before the megaman one, but it just got done coloring with little time i had when i got it back. So after having went from early type gradients and realistic looking type stuff and back to simple coloring, i ended up somewhere along the anime type vibes. It was a pretty simple concept, and it was fun drawing. I also liked how it turned out, the colors really bring it to life i feel. But the sketch still reminds me more of j. scott campbells work for some reason. Its almost as if i didn't draw it. I really dig his stuff, but i feel it is not my place to copy. Although i do always try to strive for some bengus/shinkiro type attempts when drawing, which is pretty contradictory.
But anyway, this concludes our splicing for today!
I know it probably might seem a little inconsistent art wise, but it was a good exercise in putting some ideas to paper. I still don't think i've found my trademark style yet, but hopefully i'm getting better as a colorist. i still think it looks like other peoples work but oh well. i'll keep at it.
yup.
It took awhile trying to bring em out here. But its finally done. I got some other stuff that i can't wait to show, but they're mostly unolored sketches and concepts. Right now, i'm having trouble deciding wheter i should post them in raw form or in full finished pieces. The sketching can be done pretty fast, but its the coloring i'm having trouble keeping up with, so it kinda slows down the process. But anyway, i talk too much (or type???) my question i leave you with is
"to color or not to color?" should i just post them anyway?
oh well..
It may be awhile before i come back. Who knows how long.
But one things for sure, There will be splicing!
thank for your time.
