srk.com is incredibly helpful and a wealth of knowledge.

It just hates lazy ass people and complainers.

Kind of like me (the second part, not the first).

The only people I get on on this forum are the ones who come here whining or posting the same junk that is already on the first page.

Otherwise I'll help anyone with anything I can.  If they want me to put effort into helping them, they should at least put some effort into finding answers first.

What a douche.

Vs. Guile. Any tips?

Not to encourage Secret here, but he'd probably then tell you to just go home and be a family man after you refund the game.

But um, if you guys would like to look more into vs. help, SRK.com can also help you along with this thread.

You think shoryuken.com is going to give him a warm welcome if he asks something basic like "what do I do vs guile?"

He'll get told to l2search and have his thread closed and be yelled at 10 people before it even gets closed.

If he just looks there (not posts there) he'll be fine.

I am a beginner in the Street Fighter series and fighting games... Though I have played fighting games, this wouldn't be my first (meaning I have played fighting games). However it is the first fighter I've actually tried to play in depth.

I have trouble executing moves (normal PS3 controller)

I am not sure what to do or when to do something...

What is the best advice that a beginner like me should know?

the best advice is just basically practicing the motions till you can them on both sides or get an arcade stick. Also try going through the trial normals for any character you want to learn. Trial 4 always has great beginner combos that are effective and learn the zoning game.check out these youtube videos of David Sirlin explaining some techniques and terms. It goes from beginner to advanced.

Even those these videos are on Super SF2 Turbo these are universal moves in all street fighter that need to be learned

I'd say a good start is to try and master the basics.  Complicated combos are great, but the basics are where it's at.

You want to be able to execute all of your character's moves on command, you'll want to get the hang of all the tricks of throwing (throwing, chip throwing, counter throwing, throw cancelling).  Learn to use forward and backwards dashing, learn to use focus attack to the point where you can do it, and then dash in and do a combo or Ultra (focus attack dash cancelling can come later).  Get the hang of zoning, especially if you use a character with a projectile.  If your character has an effective cross-over, learn that and at what range or situation to use it in.

And you definitely want to learn your character's Bread and Butter combo (or one of them), since it's usually the go to combo for your character, and one you can use often.

Heres some ways to defeat somewhat considered 'cheap' characters on SFIV

How to defeat a zangief fighter easily.

Good characters to use for Zangief players.

Sagat: Throw slow fireballs to mess up his timing on that PPP attack. When he tries to go inside just use sagat's regular double kick with is heavy kick.

Cammy: When Zangief tries to get inside do a cannon strike immediantly because Cammy is deadly when someone else does not have fireballs.

Blanka: Use your rapid + p electric attack if zangief is stalling and waiting for you to get up and grab you. When zangief is spamming PPP spins. Do the head sweep down +right and is goes almost across the board.

How to defeat Vega easily.

Sakura: Come to find out, Sakura's low uppercut cancels Vega's jump and specials.

Abel:  Typical Vega users usually flip back when they notice they're inside. When he does that time your special properly, or dash in and grab him.

How to defeat El Fuerte fastly.

Fireballs, thats pretty much it.

How to defeat Bison easily.

Cammy: If You time your cannon strike correctly you can cancel bison's charge jump.

For everyone else: when he does that jump just walk away so he would miss. And just grab him.
