Careful. Lots of rabid PS3 fanboys on here (though most of them are on SFIV forum)

heheh. I'm trying to be careful Wink.

I could easily post loads of anti-Sony stuff, cos I personally utterly detest them (long story, and I admit I'm not at all rational on the subject! To summarise, I've been a ukresistance reader since the days of the Sega Saturn), but I try to stick to the raw facts on forums like this - and I haven't personally played on PSN, so I can't really say for myself. But I can note that every single fighting game forum I've been on, I've seen many rants about how poor PSN is. So based on everything I've read it's clear that if you want good online experience, you get what you pay for - and MS's model of paid subscriptions appears to work best.

TBH if you are expecting PSN to be as good as a paid service like XBL, for free, you're pretty bonkers really.

OTOH I've heard in some places GGPO is perhaps even better than any console netcode, and that's free (although legally obtaining ROMS.. good luck!), so that maybe another solution for those upset with PSN.

they're gonna use the same netcode for MvC2, fingers crossed for that not to be a screw up also

Thats the thing.  Capcom purchased the rights to the GGPO netcode and they won't even use it.  It wasn't used in HDR (though they used something similar), it wasn't used in SF4, and it probably won't be used in MvC2.  So what was the point of them purchasing it?  Other than to possibly prevent SNK from using it on their KOFXII game... or something like that.

Nah, I doubt it. Like you said, Capcom didn't use GGPO, and HD Remix proves it's not necessary to provide a good online fighting experience. I'm confident KOF XII will have a solid online. It certainly couldn't be worse than SFIV's.
