I swear I used to be good at this game (maybe that's subjective considering who I used to play, but still!). I've been playing SFIV way too much and have gotten bored of it and wanted to go back to good ol' SFII, but after playing a few people, my timings are all off and I can't even win a single match anymore. (Yeah, woe is me) I have a feeling if I had went back to Alpha or III, it wouldn't have been as bad, but I'm starting to realize that #4 is so much more of a completely different beast than II now that I've conditioned myself to it and almost forgot everything I knew about how to play II effectively. Anyone have any pointers on where to re-start? I used to main between Guile and Dictator, but also some Claw and Zangief. |

I haven't met anyone yet that DIDN'T have this same problem.

SF4 destroys all SF related skills, such things like having to actually DO the special motions, and if you get beat up in HDR, you'll actually lose......(And not gain magical Ultra powers...) |

I played SFIV for 20 minutes one time, got bored of it and switched back to HD Remix.. It already threw me off! Haha. Fei Long is so much different. I don't like how he lost a lot of his mix up game, his flame kick feels weak, his Rekkas are not longer safe on block, and just overall how SFIV plays (floaty and sluggish). SFIV isn't a bad game, I guess, but I prefer HD Remix much more. And yes, the motions actually mean something in other Street Fighter games. haha.

Oh man, that makes me feel a little better that everyone else admits playing even a little SFIV saps their SFII skills. It's like crack though (any SF game is, I guess). I'll have to sell it or just let someone "borrow" it indefinately so I'm forced into not playing it anymore whenever I feel like I need wins. Plus, Alpha and III still need my attention too. |

No worries dude, I think we've all had the same problem. It's not that 4 is a bad game, it's just a bit more forgiving as far as gameplay goes. Just keep on playing HDR and you'll get your game back in no time. I think I prefet HDR at this point, 4 just feels like "Diet Street Fighter" to me, sure it vaguely tastes the same but it lacks the real substance of the real thing. |

Mashing jab and throw are two bad habits SFIV gave me. >=( I also need to re-learn how to do an SRK, apparently. |

I put so many years into SSF2T(im counting HD Remix too) & SF3 3s that playing SF4 doesn't take away my "muscle memory". So I guess lucky me? ![]() ![]() Don't stand so close to Gief! But seriously, don't. |
