The fact that Zangief can mash 360s, and lariats out of my block strings is not only ridiculous, but pretty hilarious as well.

It's not a block string if they can get out.

Buy Monster Hunter 3 and experience the masterpiece Capcom has created!

After you win a match, do you actually believe that you have skill? This isn't a flame post or anything, I just want to know.

Not a Gief palyer(i main Ryu-Dictator) but yes,Zangief require skill to win. Less skill, but ever skill.

Even Fagat require skill.

Anyway play as them is play with an unfair advantage, specially in Fagat's case.

Are'nt invincible but just need less work-skill to win, where the opponent need to play better than versus a normal char.

Block low against Blanka's Ultra? Is that what you do? I have been beaten countless times by his ultra.

And Vega, I wish I could use his Ultra on command.....but I can'ta unfortunately..

If it's that hard for you to pull the ultra, do the single or double backflip and then the Ultra. Same trick with Guile nubs tring to learn how to do the Ultra, double sweep into Ultra. Only problem is in most cases they know it's coming after that.

Anyway, Gief can be easy wins sometimes, but I guess it wouldn't be as bad as the noob friendly Honda in HDR. Even then, if they know how to zone you out Gief is almost helpless. That and most scrubby Giefs are always spamming lariats so all you've got to do is distance yourself far enough to get a clean hit.  Although, they get more chances to get you back after making a mistake since he's got so much health.

It sounds like none of you know how to fight Gief. Don't jump in and learn not to throw instead of QQ.

You have to block low against the first hit if he's close when he does it, then you block it (because as the blanka ball drops on you it counts as an overhead).  If you still have concerns you can record him doing the Ultra in practice and then get blocking it down.

It actually varies by character.  I find with Rufus sometimes my best bet is to jump in.  From the right range my jump-in beats just about everything Zangief has.  If he does lariat my HP or HK can beat it (depending on range and timing), if he jumps forward I can jumping HK and combo it into Ultra or EX knife-strike.  If he waits or up jumps and headbutts I can whiff my jump or end it early with drop kick.

Up close jump-ins with Rufus have potential as well.  After knockdown I can do repeated drop kicks in Zangief's face as he gets up.  If I keep it low I'll often land before a lariat can hit me, or connect against Zangief before the same.  If he tries to 360 throw it'll whff because I"m in the air.  If I connect I can combo, if it's blocked I can EX messiah and either FADC away or hope for a trade with the HK finish.

I actually was almost perfected by a Zangief playing a smart game from a distance and I pulled out a win by getting super aggressive on him.  Fake out throw, surprise drop-kick onto EX messiah, cr. MK into tornado into Ultra on wake-up (risky but it worked)

Also, sorry for all the posts.  Posting on the PS3 is tough, only lets me post so much per window.

I clearly stated that I didn't make this thread for flaming or trolling in other words. I'd really appreciate if you'd remove your head from your rear from now on, and not be so ignorant in the future. Thank you.

Anyway, I ask this because I never used Zangief in SFIV until today (I did do all his trails, though) and I won several G2 tournaments very easily with him as opposed to using someone like Vega, or Fei Long who I usually play exclusively online. After I won I thought to myself that it was just way too easy for me to win with this guy. Maybe it was the opponents I was facing, but I just feel as if Zangief takes very little skill to win with, even more less than Sagat who I never have problems with.

I must say that I agree that Zangief is one of the easiet characters I've learned in a short time. Were you referencing the question to those who play Zangief exclusively? I play with all of the characters myself. When I play with Feilong, it doesn't take much of an effort for me to win championships with him, if the connection is smooth enough. The character I have the most trouble when I have Feilong is against Zangief, which I consider my worst match than Sagat now. Those matches seem like an infinity of patience to me.

So many normal moves and pokes stuff Zangief's lariat, and it's not that hard to stay out of throw range or jump out of throw situations.

If somebody is playing "cheap" and you can't figure out how to stop them, then you're doing something wrong. I think if two people are both playing stupidly, and one of those players is Zangief, then the Zangief will probably win, because is cheap-don't-really-know-what-you're-doing tactics beat a lot of other characters' cheap-don't-really-know-what-you're-doing tactics.

I believe you do need skill to play Zangief, especially after looking at his commands.
