Winning with Zangief takes about as much skill to win as most characters, with a few match exeptions.

I lol'ed... my opinion is the polar opposite.

I think he pretty much takes the least skill to play. Does that mean he takes none? No, but in comparison to other characters he is very idiot friendly - especially with his 360 cut down to 280.

But again, thats just my opinion.

I would agree if you have a stick, cause pulling 360s or ultra with a pad is hard and inconsistent. I also think blanka is very easy to use, not sure which one is easier though

There is absolutely no problem using a pad and doing Gief spinning Mc whirligig of pain. It isn't hard at all - again though, that may be personal opinion - but I myself have zero problem doing it. I don't care to use the character myself, but when I play with friends who want practice against him, 98% of the time I don't foul up his piledriver.

I agree with you though about Blanka - I think he is a close second on simplicity to use. The only reason I place Gief higher (again, personal opinion) is that his larit has a HUGE hit box, acts as defense, offense and everything between. It's the swiss army knife of moves in the game and overrides almost everything.

I disagree as well, it's fairly easy to pull off 360 on pad now.  It's a little harder to pull Ultra off, but doing it after a jump or something that lets you buffer the motion is easy as well.

After you win a match, do you actually believe that you have skill? This isn't a flame post or anything, I just want to know.

I feel the very same, I was destroying a Zangief yesterday, only to lose 70% to his ultra. I was mightily upset, this happens in around half my matches against him. I can press 3 Punches and spin my joystick around at random intervals, IT'S NOT DIFFICULT. Very occasionally they'll throw a spinning backfist into the mix.....

Zangief, alongside Blanka , is Capcom's gift to unskilled, unintelligent and unstrategic fighters...

Ps: I have fought some decent(skilled even) Zangiefs and Blankas, but we're talking about maybe 5%.

Ken out.

It makes me happy knowing that I am not the only one who thinks like this. With this game's ridiculous shortcut inputs, 360, 720 motions have never been easier to pull off. Go play Alpha 2 or 3, try to do his SPD, then come back and play IV and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The fact that Zangief can mash 360s, and lariats out of my block strings is not only ridiculous, but pretty hilarious as well.

And Ken.. I know just how you feel, brother. I have a much easier time against Blanka, though. Did you know you if you're at a far away distance when he activates his Ultra, you can activate your Ultra immediately after, and it'll hit him spot on - (Vega by the way) I did this last night to someone using blank in the semi-finals in G2 to win the match.

Top-tier characters get spammed by almost everyone, even tournament champions. They still need to work hard to win, so I wouldn't say they're unskilled. But one thing they certainly AREN'T is innovative. No matter how you look at it, they're still copycatting.

Well, use your skills, intelligence and strategy against them. Not a problem I guess. Zangief definitely need some skills to win in this game. Although if his opponent have problems with his skills too - Zangief will be victorious 95%.

My current G1 Final Battle replay is against Zangief actually.

I main Vega and every victory is an acheivement. I feel an affiliation with this character because of the hardships we have both endured.....and we're both dead good looking!!

I agree with your point on spamming. I've played the number 2 player on XBL and (apparently) tournament player fudfkilik(or something)and he does the same thing with Sagat over and over.....that said, I haven't figured a way to effectively counter it, so I'm just as bad...

Vega has quita few options against Blanka Ultra.  Even up close you can block low for one hit and then backflip evade the rest

Block low against Blanka's Ultra? Is that what you do? I have been beaten countless times by his ultra.

And Vega, I wish I could use his Ultra on command.....but I can'ta unfortunately..
