I wanted to know what do yall think bout the fact that people can do a combo on you and then combine their super or ultra into it giving a huge amount of damage taking down. I think its cool to combine them but till a certain extend. I think the hits that they use to combine with gives a unfair advantage on the opponent for (ex: Bison or Ryu using there punches in the air and them coming down doing the ultra or super move. and rufus double kicks and coming down using his ultra.) I would not have a problem if everyone could at least do it. A few cant making it i thing a unfair advantage on the opponent. Most people who play with those type of characters do not feel like its a problem because they can do it but this is more of those who play with characters that cannot. but anyone can give there opinions. What do yall think?? |

Who do you use? Every character has different advantages when it comes to their ultra. I almost want to say that MOST characters' ultras can be linked at the end of a combo. If not, it's a counter to projectiles or great anti-air. Perhaps I would see your point more clearly if given a more solid example of characters whose ultras are at a disadvantage. |

I understand that things like super combos can be seen as balancing tools as far as evening things out tier wise, but I think that ultras in general were a bad idea to put in the game. the reason I think ultras were bad is because they are an opportunity to come back substantially from would be defeat due to nothing more then loosing. in other words, because ultras can only be gained by receiving damage they reward the loser and are therefore not earned. as for supers that lead into ultras well usually the damage scaling prevents it from taking substantial damage from that point but the other all amount I would agree is ALOT.

You forget to take note of the fact that it still takes alot of work for the Ultra to hit properly which balances it out by giving the move a fair amount of risk. I mean, it's not like a losing player can just pop out a Metsu Hadouken and instantly level the playing field. The way the move was implemented means that a scrub Ryu popping a Metsu outside of a combo is bound to get his butt kicked during his recovery frames.
I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game!

In all honesty this argument is mostly/only valid because of Ryu
Even a 5 year old can learn a shoryuken + Ultra. It's just to easy(fast) to pull off a lp shoryuken.
I know where this thread is coming from, it's coming from the fact that more than half of players use Ryu because of how simple it is to use him. He'll get you with an Ultra almost every time.

That said, Sakura's EX Shunpu = free Ultra (and at less cost) and she still doesn't have the tools to be top tier. Sagat is still Sagat without the comboed Ultra, and Rufus still has superb rushdown without it. Those characters already had advantages before Ultras were part of the discussion, it's just somthing of a coincedence that they ALSO got lucky with what combos into what.

I main Akuma. but i play with others and i was playing with Ryu and Ken and was seeing how easy it is to combo there supers together with a combo. and it takes a massive amount of damage on the opponent sometime i linked the to so easy that i was kinda up set because i didnt wana use it just then lol. My point is that i think that supers or ultras shouldn't be allowed to be linked together. |

Sakura: The probability of actually hitting someone with her ex shunpunkyaku is very low (slow startup). It doesn't help that her Ultra is the worst in the game in terms of damage. Sagat: No, you take out his kick juggle into Ultra and he wouldn't be S-tier. Rufus: I agree he's easy to use, very very easy to use. But he's not at the same level of "easiness" or exaggerated display of juggles/combos as Ryu.
Without Ultras none of those characters would be as good as they are, save for Rufus.

There's a line which SFIV passed when it comes to how much is too much The juggling, or rather, the excissiveness and how easy it is to link Ultras from that is the only thing which really pisses me 'bout the game.
