Speaking of this, blanka's regular horizontal roll is a free Ultra for either of them on block as well.  Not sure if it works the same for Chun, but you may want to give it a shot.

No dice, Chun just sends them flying. It might work if they were really close to the corner, but if they're rolling through the air, they probably made it far enough.

I play as Chun-Li and I just wanted to thank everybody who plays as projectile characters.

Thank you for throwing fireballs from mid-screen while I have Ultra meter. It saves me the trouble of having to do a fancy combo to land my ultra.

Thanks again!

as a fellow chun i agree dont you just love it when your playing a ken and they have almost won vs you they jump back and throw one and you catch em with the ultra on wake up really makes my day

lol this is the exact kind of nonsense that SF4 makes possible.

in other words. the person who had been winning (taking the least if no damage at all) because of one slip up (usually being the one to actually attack and not be a stupid turtle) is punished not simply by receiving the equivalent of a normal size combo but 50% or more damage enabling you to either come back and win off that move or be even to with both of  you having low health and the person who WAS winning now being floored.

GREAT JOB capcom in giving the loser of the fight a TOTAL come back move.

but oh let me guess, IF YOU SURVIVE THE ULTRA, NOW....you have an ultra too RIGHT! that is what you were going to say or what some of you have said? but guess what. WHO CARES,....BECAUSE...both of you are so low that playing a safe game of normals or a special moves is more optimal. hell most of the time in these situations a grab will kill you. and like I said, the person floored who was previously the person on top of the fight, is now at a disadvantage.

in case your wondering why I dispise defense in general as being to dominant in a game and things like rewarding the loser as bad game design the answer is

defense against defense = stalemate

I had to figure that out fast. Normally I can control space with fireballs, but against a good Chun-Li, it does the opposite. It limits MY options when Chun-Li has an Ultra in the chamber. It forces my hand and makes me consider weather to be the aggressor or sit back and wait, but all without using one of my most important tools.

That's good design, creating an Ultra that truly alters the way the match is fought. I hate playing across from it, but I must applaud a well crafted manuver.

Sakura has a fireball?

Kidding aside, Sakura has other ways to zone aside from using her weak hadoken. The thing is best used to keep other fireball spammers from easily zoning you and as the occassional combo tail (though the shouken is better). The way I play Sakura its rare for me to toss more than 10 in a match and I've went many matches without resorting to it. Funny thing is when I do throw it then it usually connects.

Incidently from 3/4 a screen off Sakura can squeeze off her ultra IN RESPONSE to Chun Li's ultra through the fireball, and the low hitting kick of first strike of her ultra snuff's Chun Li's Hosenka.  Course, you need nerves of steel to spit out an ultra under that kind of duress.

Actually it does work, just did it in training.  Doesn't need to be in the corner, but you have to time it so you get them just as they land (the Ultra should start when Blanka's just just off the ground and hit just as he lands).  I had the CPU set to "all block" and also holding back anyway, so I know it can connect solidly.  But yeah, in the corner it's a lot easier and you just kinda go nuts and it'll connect.

EDIT: While I'm at it, a number of other characters can capitalize as well.  El Fuerte for instance (have to hold forward after you do the Ultra).  Gen's Ultra or Gen's Super (then Ultra).  Akuma Ultra/Super (I had the cpu auto jumping after it did the roll and it couldn't get out of it).  Possibly Honda's Ultra.  Cammy's Ultra (requires timing to get the full hits)  You can also do MK super or do HK spiral arrow, and then LK or MK super after it lands (not chained together, but before he hits the ground from the spiral arrow).  Also while testing, apparently if a Blanka is using ball spam and you're using Zangief, after block do an EX banishing flat, then immediately an Ultra.  You'll catch him mid-ball if he tries to throw out another one immediately, lol.  Or you can up-jump and 360 as you land behind him.  Vega as well (strict timing, has to go off the wall closest to you).
