Well we know what Sean's fighting spirit is like currently (could be slightly different in the future) but we don't know much about Mel's (cept that he's most likely to invent the nut punch shoryuken) so its hard to tell how it would go down. I wouldnt like the idea if they made them too similar so that's why I threw in my idea for another rival for each. But as older brother / younger brother I can see that.

About Sakura:

I always imagined if I ever lived to see a SF 9 or 10 (that would take places many many many years after the events of SF3)..... that Ryu and Ken wouldn't be in the picture (their story being wrapped up, yet they are still doing their own thing elsewhere) and that Sakura could be one of the badass motherly figures that carries the torch to the next generation. Similar to Chun Li's role in SF3:3S. I know thats extreme and probably stupid to most, but Im talking way way in the future, when Ryu and Ken are old men. By then, Sean would be older than just "grown man" age and would even be teaching by then.

Kind of makes you wonder if we'll ever see the last SF game before within our lifetime. Anyway I hope after the success of SFIV, Capcom decides to pick up the story after SFIII.

Wouldnt it be funny as hell if Mel never became a fighter, Mel - "I hate these gloves daddy I wanna dont wanna fights I practice ballet and do some summer saults and flips" Ken - "face palm"

Haha I mean seriously Ken is chill but still he's training his son to fight at like proly 3 or 4 in III, haha he's one of those dads who forces sports on his kid.

I just wonder if Capcom will be too afraid of such a big change with the fans should they ever have an Oro-trained Ryu take over. Even though I would accept it and have no problem because I've seen the same Ryu for so many years, I just think the majority of the fans would decline the chance.

I would love to see an older Makoto eventually and other SFIII characters grow and evolve with their style and character, yet still retain the qualities that made them so unique.

Haha maybe like a soccer-mom dad, football dad you could call it too? That crazy look in Mel's eyes in Ken's SFIII ending, you know he'd give in to the Satsui No Hadou and nut-punch everyone to death. Lol I kid.

And yeah, I did think about a Ryu who finished training with Oro and what it would mean. Look how incredibly strong Oro really is. The one thing that held me back from the idea, is what it would mean between the rivalry and equality between Ryu and Ken. Capcom can tell the fans Ryu has a better win record over Ken, but Ken fans will still want to say Ken is equal or stronger than Ryu. So I did remember if Ryu finishes his training with Oro, there would have to be some kind of jump in his abilities/power. So it'd be hard for them to say "Oh yeah they are still equal in strength and power. It's just Ryu has to train rigorously with Oro and Ken takes care of his kid and teaches Sean a lot, so that uh about evens it up."

I think in non-canon mangas and comics they can get away with making Ryu stronger and better than Ken, but as I have a lot of Ken-fan friends, it would be hard to make a canon game or info book that outright says Ryu has become better than and surpassed Ken. It's because they were put into the game together that they are so popular, so its hard to break from that.

It could be very hard for Capcom to make a move into the future of these guys. Heck it would take big balls. Once you set that kind of story in motion, it'd be hard to just retcon it if it becomes difficult to keep up.
